This Valentine’s Day, we’re celebrating some of our favorite couples.
All American’s Spencer James and Olivia Baker are among the better-written younger couples in recent history. They had instant chemistry, but it took time to become close friends.
Fans endured almost three seasons of push-pull moments until the couple finally kissed during All American Season 3.

Things were never easy for these two as Olivia’s reporter dreams and Spencer’s NFL goals sometimes clashed. But that’s what made it so rewarding when they reunited after Olivia’s year abroad.
As they matured, they learned what really matured was their love for one another and how to balance both of their dreams.

Spencer and Olivia’s Dreams Changed Throughout the Years
Something pulled me into Spencer and Olivia right from the start. While I adored their sizzling chemistry, I appreciated their close bond more.
They understood each other’s innermost goals and dreams, even when they couldn’t always help.
Both hit rock bottom. Spencer did after he was shot, and Olivia did shortly after that with drugs. They supported each other as friends until they officially became a couple.
Having that solid, strong friendship made the slow-burn factor work, but it was sometimes frustrating.

The fans saw that connection and wanted them a couple much sooner, but those friendship scenes were precious, especially when Olivia thanked him for saving her after the shooting.
As they matured, Spencer learned that Olivia’s truth sometimes interfered with his football goals. After a year apart, he realized he never wanted anyone else.
That time apart allowed them to grow individually and even more appreciate each other’s strengths and quirks.
They didn’t let people boss them around as much when they wanted their alone time anymore. Score!

Since Spencer was like a member of the Baker family, it was a nostalgic throwback that he proposed to Olivia on the 22-yard line, which was Billy’s number.
Being together for so long allowed them to grow up together and share pivotal moments together.
It’s why the entire Crenshaw and West Beverly communities chipped in to throw them a wedding. They had become part of a family that people wanted to celebrate.

We’ve talked a lot about Spencer and Olivia’s growth. At the end of All American Season 6, they got married and moved to New York.
I thought that would be enough change for them to deal with, but on the last episode of All American Season 7, Olivia learned she was pregnant and shared the happy news with Spencer.
The series feels different without them around regularly to celebrate this happy journey, but hopefully, Olivia (Samantha Logan) and Spencer (Daniel Ezra) will visit again this season.
Their impending parenthood arc is so essential, especially since Olivia is carrying twins and carrying on the Baker Twins’ legacy.

Regardless, we’re excited to have watched this couple grow from angsty teenagers to their wedding and the next step in their marriage.
That was the perfect Valentine’s Day gift to give Spencer.
