Attorney at Law’s Titania Issues Online ReBUTTal

In a video posted to Twitter on Thursday, September 22nd, 2022, the same day that the sixth episode of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law was released for streaming on Disney+, Jameela Jamil, who plays Titania, posted a satirical in-character online “rebuttal” to the events of the most recent episode, “Just Jen.”

In a fourth-wall-breaking standalone wedding episode (that came at the most inconvenient time possible, just like any wedding), Jen Walters (Tatiana Maslany) is invited to the wedding of Lulu (Patti Harrison). However, that invitation extends only to Jen, not to She-Hulk, since the bride is concerned the jade giantess will distract attention from her during her nuptials.

But because Jen doesn’t realize the limited nature of the invitation when she first receives it, when she arrives at the wedding, it’s as Shulkie. Before Jen is pulled aside by Lulu and asked to remain as “just Jen,” She-Hulk is surrounded by the friends of Lulu, who are specifically in awe of the amazing physical assets she gains as a result of her transformation, with an emphasis on the buttocks.

MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY

Later on in the episode, it is revealed that Titania is also a friend of Lulu, and is, in fact, attending the wedding in the hopes of physically attacking She-Hulk. At first, Titania pretends she is just there to support their mutual friend. But in the third act, Titania gloves off and confronts an intoxicated Jen in the courtyard of the wedding venue.

While she attempts to retain her Jen-form, the protagonist is eventually goaded into her She-Hulk transformation (even if it takes a little longer than usual due to the amount of alcohol she ingested). After a dance-floor fight sequence set to diegetic music provided by the DJ (Jen’s cousin Ched, played by Nicholas Cirillo), She-Hulk defeats Titania in battle, and she leaves the wedding in disgrace.

Titania Evens the Score in Fourth-Wall-Breaking Style

Jameela Jamil on Twitter

But regardless of how an episode’s script ends, Titania already has a history of the evening the score, even if she has to break through the fourth wall. For example, after she was defeated by Jen in the first episode of the season, the character actually took to the streets of Los Angeles to vandalize several billboards advertising the show.

In the video posted to Twitter the morning the episode aired, Jamil walks to an SUV and struggles to get in because of the size of the gluteal prosthetic she is wearing. The video’s framing emphasizes the comedically oversized buttocks, recalling the techniques used for the physique of Deputy Raineesha Williams (Niecy Nash) on Reno 911! and especially in Reno 911!: Miami.
