Beavis and Butt-Head Return This Summer With New Movie and TV Series on Paramount+

Beavis and Butt-Head’s next movie, Beavis and Butt-Head Do the Universe, will premiere this year on Paramount+ along with new episodes of the TV show.

The long-awaited revival of Beavis and Butt-Head is almost here. Back in 2020, it was announced that Comedy Central would develop two seasons of a new Beavis and Butt-Head series while a separate untitled movie would stream on Paramount+. It’s now been announced by the streamer that Paramount+ will become the exclusive home to Beavis and Butt-Head, with the revival series skipping its TV premiere on Comedy Central to go straight to streaming. The company also revealed new details about the movie, which premieres in July and has been titled Beavis and Butt-Head Do the Universe.

Not much has been divulged about the new series other than to state that “Beavis and Butt-Head are back and stupider than ever.” The full library of more than 200 classic remastered episodes of Beavis and Butt-Head will also be available to stream. Their new movie, which serves as a sequel of sorts to Beavis and Butt-Head Do America, is called Beavis and Butt-Head Do the Universe and brings the dimwitted duo into the year 2022.

MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY

The synopsis for Beavis and Butt-Head Do the Universe reads: “In perhaps the dumbest space movie ever made, Beavis and Butt-Head are sentenced to Space Camp by a “creative” judge in 1998. Their obsession with a docking simulator (huh huh) leads to a trip on the Space Shuttle, with predictably disastrous results. After going through a black hole, they reemerge in our time, where they look for love, misuse iPhones, and are hunted by the Deep State. Spoiler: They don’t score.”

Previously, Mike Judge had shared a sneak peek at Beavis and Butt-Head’s return with an image imagining the teenagers as middle-aged adults. The synopsis makes it sound like perhaps the pair won’t be middle-aged in the new film, at least now for the entire duration, but perhaps that might be how they’ll appear in a flash-forward scene. In any case, we still have some questions about the return of Beavis and Butt-Head, but now it helps to have a title along with a synopsis to go on.

South Park Is Also Coming to Paramount+

Paramount+

Additionally, Paramount+ will become the global streaming home for the full catalog of South Park episodes, movies, and made-for-streaming movies starting in 2025. This is in addition to Matt Stone and Trey Parker developing a series of South Park movies exclusive to the streaming service. The announcements were made by Chris McCarthy, chief content officer, unscripted entertainment and adult animation for Paramount+, during the ViacomCBS Investors Event.

“South Park and Beavis and Butt-Head are two of the most successful and widely known adult animation IP in the history of the genre, and I am thrilled that Paramount+ will be their exclusive new SVOD home,” said McCarthy. “By expanding the universe of these franchises, we are unlocking significant value within ViacomCBS’ treasure chest of IP, and this is just the beginning.”

Beavis and Butt-Head Do the Universe will start streaming on Paramount+ in July 2022, followed by an all-new season of the TV series.

New Beavis and Butt-head Movie Is Going Straight to Streaming on Paramount+

Along with the two-season reboot series in the works at Comedy Central, Beavis and Butt-head is getting a new movie adaptation at Paramount+.
