Child’s Play franchise star Jennifer Tilly has set herself up for a horrifying role: reality television star. In May, it was confirmed that the actress and professional poker player would join Bravo’s The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills (RHOBH) for its upcoming 14th season. While Tilly won’t be one of the show’s central players, she has joined as a friend of the cast – which means that while Tilly will be a cast member on the show, she’ll have a smaller role compared to the main housewives.

During a recent appearance on the It Happened in Hollywood podcast alongside her Bound co-star Gina Gershon, Tilly opened up about the horrors of appearing on the popular Bravo series:

“Oh my God, it’s insane. It’s, like, scarier than Chucky. I’ll tell you that. I’m not a Housewife. I’m a Friend, though, which is a lot easier. You just dip in and out. You try to avoid, like, flying shrapnel. And you know, if drinks are thrown, I have good reflexes.”

Tilly joined the Child’s Play franchise in 1998 with the fourth film in the series, Bride of Chucky. She played the character Tiffany Valentine, who became a central figure in the franchise going forward, appearing in 2004’s Seed of Chucky, 2013’s Curse of Chucky, 2017’s Cult of Chucky, and since 2021, the SyFy series Chucky. Her work on the horror franchise has solidified her spot as a scream queen.

During their conversation, Gerson disclosed that she had been asked to join the cast of RHOBH, telling Tilly:

They approached me. I was too scared.

Tilly shared some words of encouragement with Gershon, telling her she “would be great.” Gershon responded:

“You know what? You’re gonna be genius on that. You’ll take over that whole set, Jen. I have no doubt. I’d actually even watch it with you on it!”

Although Tilly is best known to horror genre fans for her role as Tiffany Valentine in Child’s Play movies, her first major role was in Woody Allen’s 1994 comedy crime film Bullets Over Broadway, which earned her an Oscar nod for Best Supporting Actress. In 1996, she starred alongside Gershon in Bound, a neo-noir crime thriller that follows the romantic bond between the actresses’ characters: Violet (Tilly) and Corky (Gershon). The film earned several accolades, including the 1997 GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding (wide-release) Film. Her film credits also include The Fabulous Baker Boys, Liar Liar, and The Cat’s Meow. Tilly has also voiced Bonnie Swanson on Family Guy since 1999.

There’s no official word yet on when we can expect the 14th season of RHOBH to premiere. The show will see the return of Sutton Stracke, Kyle Richards, Erika Girardi, Dorit Kemsley, and Garcelle Beauvais, and the addition of newbie Bozoma “Boz” Saint John (a former chief marketing officer at Netflix). Richard’s sister, Kathy Hilton, will also appear as a friend.

Tilly appeared in several season 13 episodes of the reality series along with her friend and RHOBH cast member Stracke, but she’ll now appear in a more significant role. Stracke, who has been on RHOBH since its tenth season, previously appeared in a season two episode of SyFy’s Chucky. We can’t wait to see if Tilly recruits Gershon to join in on the horrors of housewife-ing.
