Chris Noth Fired From The Equalizer Amid Misconduct Allegations

The Equalizer star Chris Noth will not be returning to the show as he begins a legal battle against assault allegations recently made by three women.

The recent allegations against Sex and the City star Chris Noth have begun to have an effect on the actor’s current starring roles, as Universal Television and CBS Television Studios released a short statement announcing his instant dismissal from The Equalizer in the wake of the allegations of sexual assault and rape that have been lodged against him. The news comes hot on the heels of the actor being dropped by his agency and having his recent Pelaton advert pulled from air.

Chris Noth will no longer film additional episodes of The Equalizer, effective immediately,” read the short statement in relation to Noth’s firing. THR reported that actor will still be seen in one future episode, which has already filmed for the second season’s return after the Christmas hiatus, as well as in repeats of episodes already aired, but that will be as far as his link with the show will go. Noth played William Bishop in the reboot series, which features Queen Latifah in the title role and has been a big hit for CBS.

MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY

While Noth has denial the allegations, calling them “categorically false” and claiming that the two separate incidents that have been alleged were both “consensual”, it seems that the repercussions are continuing to roll out and are unlikely to stop unless the actor can bring some strong evidence to disprove the claims against him which were detailed in THR last week.

The claims were made by 40 year old “Zoe” and 31 year old “Lily”, who were reported to have approached The Hollywood Reporter months apart to relay their separate stories about Noth when the promotion began for Sex and the City revival And Just Like That, which featured the actor reprising his role as Mr. Big, which they said brought back memories of incidents that occurred in 2004 and 2015 respectively.

Noth responded to the publication’s request for a comment on the accusations, and received one in which the actor said, “The accusations against me made by individuals I met years, even decades, ago are categorically false. These stories could’ve been from 30 years ago or 30 days ago — no always means no — that is a line I did not cross. The encounters were consensual. It’s difficult not to question the timing of these stories coming out. I don’t know for certain why they are surfacing now, but I do know this: I did not assault these women.”

Although Noth only appears in the opening episode of And Just Like That, it seems like it is also likely to be one of his last appearances on screen for a while in light of this latest news. The actor has hired an attorney to fight the allegations, which have also led to the loss of a $12 million deal the actor was in the process of completing to sell his Tequila business, but for now the detailed accounts of the two incidents that were published just days ago, along with additional claims of sexual assault made by a third woman on Saturday are enough for his professional career to be on hold for the foreseeable future.
