Resident Alien has become a hit for the Syfy network, and season 2 is now streaming on Peacock. Collider recently spoke with show creator Chris Sheridan about what fans can expect in the new season.
In the interview, Sheridan talked about how Syfy wanted to know his long-term plans when he pitched the series, what the budget would look like and how Season 2 is 16 episodes. He also revealed that the 8th episode ends on a mini-finale, of sorts. The full interview can be seen below.
What is Resident Alien About?
Resident Alien follows an alien who comes to Earth to destroy all humans but stays undercover as a small-town Colorado doctor when he realizes it won’t be an easy job. The series is based on the Dark Horse comic book series by Peter Hogan and Steve Parkhouse. The show has been adapted for television by five-time Emmy nominee Sheridan, who has written for Family Guy and Living Single.
MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY
Sheridan discusses how he just wrote the story and what he wanted to do for the show, but as they began to shoot the show and dive into the VFX, he realized that he would have to cut some stuff out for budget purposes. For example, Sheridan talks about how the full alien makeup takes a few hours to put together, which of course, adds to the budget.
Even though season 2 is currently airing, he is still working on the much longer season. As of now, he said he has not thought about season 3 just yet. He also speaks to Collider about how episode 8 was the toughest one as it serves as a cliffhanger for the middle of the season. The most significant point that Sheridan speaks on is making sure that the story arc on the characters develops in a way that makes sense. Sheridan seems very committed to this project and enjoying, so hopefully, we will see how season 2 ends and get word on an upcoming season 3 in the future.
