Cobra Kai Posters Put the Spotlight on the Warring Karate Clubs

Cobra Kai, Miyagi-Do, and Eagle Fang members prepare for war in the latest posters for Netflix’s upcoming fourth season.

The latest posters for Netflix’s upcoming fourth series of the hugely popular Cobra Kai lean into their 1980s legacy while teasing the warring teams of karate champions. Coming courtesy of the official Cobra Kai Twitter account, the first batch shows off the members of Johnny Lawrence’s Eagle Fang Karate squad, with both Miguel and new recruit Eli “Hawk” Moskowitz demonstrating their skills alongside their fearless leader.

The second set has franchise hero Daniel LaRusso leading his Miyagi-Do, with a caption alongside the posters saying, ”Mr. Miyagi would be proud to see Miyagi-Do is still being repped by some of the best.” Lead students Samantha and Demetri also take center stage, with both Eagle Fang and Miyagi-Do set to join forces against the titular Cobra Kai.

The last batch of posters put the spotlight on Cobra Kai. The snake that is John Kreese pulls a classic pose, with Tory and recent dark side recruit Robby Keene clearly ready to cause Karate-fuelled chaos. Finally, Terry Silver’s return is teased, with the returning villain’s glorious ponytail looking as magnificent as ever.

Cobra Kai has been a massive success for Netflix, introducing audiences to both Karate Kid characters Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence all these years later. The third season wrapped up with some big changes being made to the status quo, with Daniel’s (Ralph Macchio) Miyagi-Do dojo joining forces with Johnny’s (William Zabka) new Eagle Fang students to defeat Cobra Kai, which has now been taken over by the menacing John Kreese (Martin Kove). Their unexpected truce came after a visit from another crucial character from the Karate Kid’s past, Elisabeth Shue’s Ali Mills Schwarber, which turned out to be a much more healing experience than the characters, or the audience, could ever have expected.

If that were not already more than enough for LaRusso and Lawrence to deal with, Cobra Kai Season 4 will also bring back an infamous face from the past, The Karate Kid Part III’s Terry Silver, who will be played once again by Thomas Ian Griffith. A close friend of John Kreese from his military days, Terry Silver is the main antagonist in the 1989’s The Karate Kid threequel, and a character that many fans had hoped would return for more revenge-fuelled antics against Danny LaRusso and the legacy of Mr. Miyagi.

The fight for the soul of both the town and the tournament has led to archenemies Daniel and Johnny joining forces, something which Ralph Macchio cannot wait for audiences to see. “What I’m most looking forward to in the Daniel/Johnny team up is the challenge,” the actor teased. “Navigating their varied personalities and stubborn mindsets as they work toward the same endgame. Their history is nuanced and multi-layered. They are wired so differently even though their intentions are aligned. Billy and I love diving into the friendship as well as the rivalry. This is what [executive producer] Hayden Schlossberg has always called the Ross and Rachel element of our show. It makes for great comedy as well as heightened drama within Season 4.”

Starring Courtney Henggeler, Xolo Maridueña, Tanner Buchanan, Mary Mouser, Jacob Bertrand, Gianni DeCenzo, Martin Kove, Vanessa Rubio, and Peyton List alongside Ralph Macchio and William Zabka, Cobra Kai Season 4 is due to hit Netflix on December 31, 2021.
