Cobra Kai Star Teases Kreese’s Revenge in Season 5

Cobra Kai star Martin Kove has teased Kreese’s revenge in the upcoming fifth season. Taking to social media, Kove shared an image from the most recent series of Netflix’s Cobra Kai alongside the ominous caption, “Just remember…I’ve been chained and locked away before…It’s just the beginning,” before concluding that “I am Cobra Kai.”

Season 4 of Cobra Kai, which hit the streaming service at the end of last year to much acclaim, ended with Martin Kove’s character John Kreese being dragged off to prison by the police. Betrayed by his partner in karate crime Terry Silver, who successfully framed Kreese for assault, Kove has quickly reminded everyone that this is not the first time he has found himself behind bars. Beware Kreese’s vengeance.

“I’ve been chained and locked away before,” says Kove in the caption, referring to the period of time that John Kreese was held as a prisoner of war in Vietnam. Some of this harrowing experience was shown during Cobra Kai Season 3, with Kreese volunteering to take Terry Silver’s place in a fight to the death, during which Kreese throws their captain into the deadly snake pit below. With Kreese essentially saving Silver’s life, the former Cobra Kai master will no doubt want to exact his revenge as soon as possible. Much to the delight of audiences.

Alongside Kreese’s planned vendetta, The Karate Kid Part III star Thomas Ian Griffith, who returned as Terry Silver in the most recent season of Cobra Kai, has also teased his character’s influence on season 5. While things are already looking bad for our heroes Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence, it sounds like things are about to get even worse. “You’re going to see the next level of Terry Silver,” Thomas Ian Griffith revealed. “It is like what the creators say, “What if Terry had won the All Valley Karate Tournament in 1989?” So we’ll explore that — and it is fascinating.”

If that were not already enough to have Cobra Kai fans karate-chopping the air in anticipation, things are set to ramp up even further in season 5 thanks to the return of The Karate Kid Part II’s Chozen Toguchi, played once again by Yuji Okumoto. Cobra Kai co-creator Hayden Schlossberg has offered some insight into what this will mean for the Valley, saying that Daniel-San “does have somebody else who knows Miyagi-Do karate that is in our minds, willing to fight for the death for him to prove himself.”

Schlossberg continued, teasing the deathly heights that Cobra Kai season 5 could reach. “The possibilities now are endless. Obviously, things could get really heightened because you know that Chozen is the type of guy who, at least in Karate Kid II, was willing to fight to the death. And we know that Terry Silver is willing to go to crazy lengths, to stay in power, especially after what he did to Stingray in season four. So it has the makings for a big action-packed season. And we just finished shooting it and, and it is. And so, we’re looking forward to fans, checking it out.”

All 4 seasons of Cobra Kai are now available on Netflix.
