John Corbett will reprise his Sex and the City role on HBO Max’s And Just Like That… Deadline reports that the actor, who played Aidan Shaw in the original series and the second movie, will appear for a multi-episode arc during the series’ upcoming second season. HBO has not released an official statement regarding the news.
In April 2021, the actor excited Sex and the City fans when he (falsely) told Page Six that he thought he “might be in quite a few [episodes]” of the show’s first season. While this drew criticism from series writers as there were no plans to include Aidan in the show’s storyline, And Just Like That… star and executive producer Sarah Jessica Parker thought Corbett’s joke was “kind of delightful and kind of fun.”

Throughout the third and fourth seasons of Sex and the City, Corbett played Aidan, the boyfriend, and later fiance, of Carrie Bradshaw (Parker). The relationship had its share of ups and downs, with Carrie cheating on Aidan and later breaking up their engagement. Aidan reappeared in season six, revealing he was now a father to a young son and married. Corbett reprised his role for the 2010 film Sex and the City 2, where Carrie and Aidan run into each other in Abu Dhabi and later share a kiss. As they are both married at that point, there is no further rekindling.
John Corbett became known throughout the early 1990s when he starred in the critically acclaimed series Northern Exposure as Chris Stevens. He went on to appear on Sex and the City, United States of Tara and Parenthood. In film, he starred in My Big Fat Greek Wedding, its sequel, and has just wrapped filming on the third film in the series. He most recently appeared in the To All the Boys film trilogy.

Season One of And Just Like That…
HBO Max
The highly anticipated first season of And Just Like That… premiered on HBO Max last December. The show follows the lives of the Sex and the City ladies Carrie, Charlotte (Kristin Davis), and Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), who are now in their 50s. Kim Catrall, who famously portrayed Samantha Jones in the original series and two movies, did not return for the follow-up and has been very vocal about not wanting to portray the character any longer.
Although the first season received mixed critical reviews, HBO announced that And Just Like That… was the service’s most-watched series debut to date. Corbett joins series stars Parker, Davis, and Nixon, along with season one cast members Nicole Ari Parker, Karen Pittman, Sara Ramirez, and Sarita Choudhury.
Season one ended with Carrie sharing a kiss with podcast producer Franklyn, following the mourning of her husband Big. For fans of the show, this leaves the door open for a possible reunification between Carrie and Aidan.
