Any Full House fan will likely fondly remember Forever, Jesse Katsopolis’ (John Stamos) wedding song to Rebecca Donaldson (Lori Loughlin). The song became popular during th sitcom’s fourth and fifth seasons, as the ballad made its way from the duo’s wedding to the top of the Tokyo charts. This time around– over three decades later– the ballad has returned as a lullaby, which makes sense considering Stamos is now the proud dad of a 5-year-old son. For the recently released version, which you can listen to below, Stamos collaborated with American Idol season 14 contestant Jax.
Forever was originally released by the Beach Boys in 1971 but was not one of the band’s more popular tracks. Following the song’s newfound success on the ABC sitcom, Stamos re-recorded the song with the rock band for their 1992 album Summer in Paradise.
Stamos’ relationship with the Beach Boys date back to the actor’s General Hospital days. While attending one of their concerts, Stamos was recognized by fans who chased him backstage. Beach Boys frontman Mike Love questioned who Stamos was, and after being informed, he quickly demanded that Stamos join the band on-stage. Since then, Stamos has performed with the melodic group multiple times, with the band even making an appearance on Full House. The relationship extends beyond the professional, as Love once told Rolling Stone that he had been a part of Stamos’ wedding to wife Caitlin McHugh: “He asked me if I’d be involved in his wedding. I pronounced them man and wife, can you believe that?”
If all this Beach Boys chatter has made you wonder about the Rippers, you’ll be happy to learn that they did reemerge during the 2016 Fuller House pilot where they accompanied the cast while they sang (you guessed it) Forever.

Full House Nostalgia
ABC
Full House fans should enjoy this moment: not only is Forever back on the radar, but three of the series stars have recently launched rewatch podcasts. Dave Coulier premiered Full House Rewind on July 21, and days later Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber debuted How Rude, Tanneritos! on July 24.
Coulier dedicated his first episode to the memory of Bob Saget, who passed away in January 2022 from head trauma. Coulier’s podcast is now paused as the actor will not release any new episodes during the SAG-AFTRA strike. On their end, Sweetin and Barber continue to release episodes, and there are five currently available. During the first episode, Sweetin and Barber also spoke fondly of Saget, with Barber adding that losing Saget and her mother had caused a sense of urgency for her to “capture these memories and get them down permanently.”
Stamos, who has been vocal in the past about not fulling embracing Full House at first, seems to have joined in on the nostalgia train. Besides this new release of Forever, he recently told Hot Ones host Sean Evans:
“I fought it for a long time. And then I finally said, ‘What am I doing, it’s a beautiful show.’ We built it with sweetness and kindness. There was no central character on that show, I realized. The central character was love.”
