The film with the second most Globe nominations is Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022), an absurdist comedy drama starring Michelle Yeoh and written and directed by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert. The film’s trailer debuted early last year to mostly baffled amusement, but upon its release it received a healthy dose of both critic and audience acclaim, being heralded as a rarely seen “swirl of genre anarchy” that worked extraordinarily well. The film itself revolves around a Chinese-American immigrant named Evelyn Wang who, while having her family business audited by the IRS, suddenly finds herself literally thrown into a crisis where she must find herself in numerous parallel universes in order to save the ‘multiverse’ from a powerful enemy.
