After an embarrassing public scandal and subsequent stint in prison, Lori Loughlin is making a return to television. Back in 2019, Loughlin was named as one of 50 parents involved in a college admissions scandal, as investigators charged the actress and her husband with unlawfully getting their daughters enrolled into a prestigious college. The negative publicity promptly saw Loughlin getting fired from her major roles in Fuller House and When Calls the Heart.
Since then, Loughlin has not been working, but she’s now ready to get back to set. Per Deadline, the actress will reprise her role from When Calls the Heart, Abigail Stanton, on the spinoff series When Hope Calls. Though When Calls the Heart airs on Hallmark Channel, When Hope Calls is coming back for a second season on GAC Family. Loughlin will appear as Abigail in the two-part season 2 premiere called When Hope Calls: A Country Christmas. It will air on Dec. 18.
When Hope Calls aired its first season on Hallmark Channel’s streaming service Hallmark Movies Now. Its move to GAC Family for season 2 marks the first original series for the new network. It’s been announced that Morgan Kohan will return to reprise her role as Lillian Walsh, while additional cast, such as RJ Hatanaka, are expected to be announced soon.
In When Hope Calls: A Country Christmas, Part 1, “Brookfield hosts a Christmas festival as one of three contenders in Harper’s Bazaar’s search for America’s #1 Country Christmas Town. The entire town is preoccupied with creating the essence of Christmas for the photojournalist’s lens, though, behind the scenes, residents are not living the spirit of the season. In the midst of the fuss, a stagecoach appears, and out steps Abigail Stanton and her son, Cody (Carter Ryan), who have brought a troubled boy to Lillian’s (Kohan) orphanage.”
As for When Hope Calls: A Country Christmas, Part 2, “photojournalist Paul Franklin is wrapping his stay in Brookfield. By now, he blends in as the town prepares for Christmas Eve. Lillian, the orphans, and Gabriel (Hatanaka) are running out of options to restore the troubled boy’s hope for better times. Just when all seems lost, a secret Santa appears to fulfill all holiday wishes, and Abigail has a profound conversation with a dear friend from the past. Meanwhile, Paul’s lens is recording every miraculous moment.”
Brad Krevoy, Brian Bird, Michael Landon Jr., Alfonso H. Moreno, Kaitlyn Greenough, and David Anselmo are executive producing When Hope Calls. W. Michael Beard and Michael Shepard are supervising producers with Bradley Walsh serving as director. Alfonso H. Moreno created the series.
Lori Loughlin’s daughter, YouTube influencer Olivia Jade, has also done her best to move on from the college admissions scandal. She currently appears as a contestant on Dancing with the Stars. She was one of two daughters at the heart of the scandal and has since dropped out of the college where she had been enrolled.
You can catch Lori Loughlin’s return to acting when When Hope Calls: A Country Christmas airs on GAC Family on Saturday, Dec. 18. Maybe, just maybe, she will show up as Aunt Becky as well on another show, following her Fuller House firing. This news comes to us from Deadline.
