Manifest Season 4 Might Happen After All as NBC and Netflix Resume Renewal Talks

We may not have seen the end of Manifest after all. Last month, fans of the mind-bending drama series were shocked when NBC canceled Manifest after three seasons, leaving the show to end abruptly on a cliffhanger. Because its first two seasons had been so popular on Netflix, there was hope that the streamer would save Manifest by picking it up for its fourth season, but they reportedly passed as well, almost spelling certain doom for the show.

NBC and Netflix must have have noticed the backlash from fans that persists weeks after it was announced that the series was over, as the hashtag #SaveManifest has consistently gone viral with fans demanding new episodes. Despite the news of the series ending, it’s also boding well that Manifest remains one of the most-watched titles on Netflix. Per Deadline, both NBC and Netflix have since resumed conversations with Warner Bros. TV about picking up a fourth season of Manifest, and the latter is “picking up momentum.”

This is certainly great news for Manifest fans as it restores hope for the show to get a proper conclusion. Working in the possible renewal’s favor at NBC is the cancelation of Good Girls, which had its fifth season fall through after the network canceled Manifest. NBC also axed plans to develop the Law & Order spinoff For the Defense. These big moves have reportedly freed up funds at the network which could potentially go towards another season of Manifest.

The problem for NBC is that Netflix has a renewed interest in saving Manifest at this point, as the title just will not go away from the streamer’s top 10 list of its most-watched titles. Fans even know that the series might end on a cliffhanger at the end of season 3, but they are not willing to give up on the show. Hearing that NBC may pick up the clearly popular title will only make Netflix more interested as there will be a lot of people tuning in if and when Manifest season 4 arrives, regardless of where it’s at.

Manifest creator Jeff Rake has encouraged fans to keep the #SaveManifest campaign after the show was first canceled by NBC and passed on by Netflix. As he had envisioned a six-season run for the series, he has plenty of story left to tell for the show. Feeling more optimistic about a potential renewal, Rake recently asked fans about what they might like to see in new episodes if Manifest ultimately gets saved.

“Let’s be optimistic. Looking ahead, which minor characters do you most want to see again? Which early story threads left you wanting more? Which Easter Eggs are you most wanting to hatch? I’m taking notes,” Rake wrote.

Premiering on NBC in 2018, Manifest follows the passengers and crew of a commercial airliner who suddenly reappear five years after their plane has gone missing. The series stasr Melissa Roxburgh, Josh Dallas, Athena Karkanis, J. R. Ramirez, Luna Blaise, Jack Messina, Parveen Kaur, Matt Long, and Holly Taylor.

The first two seasons of Manifest are currently streaming on Netflix. Time will tell if season 4 ever happens. This news comes to us from Deadline.
