Mayor of Kingstown Trailer Teams Jeremy Renner & Kyle Chandler on Paramount+ This November

Paramount+ has recently released the official trailer for its upcoming series Mayor of Kingstown. The series stars Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker, Hawkeye) as Mike McLusky, who is the mayor of a fictional city called Kingstown located in the state of Michigan. In Kingstown, incarceration is the only thriving industry. The upcoming television series was created by Taylor Sheridan and Hugh Dillon. Check out the official trailer and poster for Mayor of Kingstown below.

Mayor of Kingstown is an upcoming American crime thriller television series. Alongside Jeremy Renner, the show also features Dianne Wiest (Edward Scissorhands, The Birdcage), Kyle Chandler (Super 8, Argo), Emma Laird (From Life, In Conversation With A Goddess), Taylor Handy (Chasing Mavericks, Vegas), Hugh Dillon (Flashpoint, Yellowstone), Aidan Gillen (Game of Thrones, Maze Runner: Scorch Trials), and Tobi Bamtefa (Tin Star, The Witcher). The official synopsis for Mayor of Kingstown reads as, the McLusky family – power brokers in Kingstown, Michigan where the business of incarceration is the only thriving industry. Tackling themes of systemic racism, corruption and inequality, the series provides a stark look at their attempt to bring order and justice to a town that has neither.

Mayor of Kingstown is a series that was 10 years in the making as the creators wanted to wait for the right time to finally bring it to life. “This story takes a comprehensive look at the entire prison system, the good, the bad and the ugly of it,” executive producer David Glasser said during the Paramount+ TCA day. “These characters are in a situation in a town where they are trying to bring some justice to a town that has none, and that has operated on [that premise]. So, really at the end of the day, they are tackling a flawed system and giving us all parts of the pie to take a look at.”

The project was first announced back in January 2020, when Paramount Network ordered to series. By February 2021, the series was transferred over to the Paramount+ streaming service, with Jeremy Renner cast in the lead. Series co-creator Hugh Dillon joined the cast alongside Pha’rez Lass & Tobi Bamtefa in May. Kyle Chandler was actually revealed to have joined the cast in August following the release of a teaser poster for the upcoming series. Filming for Mayor of Kingstown began on May 17, 2021 in Toronto, and finally wrapped its first season on October 2.

Jeremy Renner recently had comments on the story, saying, “We’re all a product of our environment, and the environment is bleak. How each character, or even my character, chooses to deal with that, the limitations of our environment, is very specific.” It has been confirmed that the first season of Mayor of Kingstown will consist a total of 10 episodes. Paramount Network will air a special simulcast premiere event for Mayor of Kingstown on Sunday, November 14, following a new episode of Yellowstone, but then Mayor of Kingstown will ONLY be available for streaming on Paramount+.
