Money Heist Season 5 Trailer Arrives, Final Episodes Get Split Into Two Volumes

Netflix has released a teaser for Money Heist season 5. Not only does the trailer give us a taste of what’s to come in the latest season of the highly popular crime series, but it also reveals that the new season will be split into two volumes. The first volume will arrive in September this fall, with the second volume to follow three months later on December 3. Each volume will consist of five episodes, giving the final season ten episodes overall to wrap up the story.

The teaser doesn’t give too much away but it doesn’t skimp on the action. The Gang is featured running in slow motion during a shootout. Bullets fly and emotions run high, all set to the tune of an epic version of In the End, originally recorded by Linkin Park. It seems unlikely that everyone is going to make it out alive. Series creator Alex Pina had this to say about what to expect from both volumes of the final season.

“When we began to write Part 5 in the midst of the pandemic, we felt that we had to change what was expected from the ten-episode season and used every tool we could to create the sensation of a season finale or series finale in the first volume itself. We decided to work in an extremely aggressive genre, putting The Gang on the ropes. In volume 2, we focus more on the emotional situation of the characters. It is a journey across their sentimental map that connects us directly to their departure.”

Money Heist season 5 boasts a huge ensemble. The cast includes Ursula Cobero, Alvaro Morte, Itziar Ituno, Pedro Alonso, Miguel Herran, Jaime Lorente, Esther Acebo, Enrique Arce, Darko Peric, Hovik Keuchkerian, Luka Peros, Belen Cuesta, Fernando Cayo, Rodrigo de la Serna, Najwa Nimri and Jose Manuel Poga. Also joining the action this season are Miguel Angel Silvestre and Patrick Criado.

In Money Heist season 5, The gang has been shut in the Bank of Spain for over 100 hours. They have indeed reduced Lisbon, though the darkest moment they’ve faced is on the way after losing one of their own. Professor has been captured by Sierra and, for the first time, doesn’t have an escape plan. Just when it seems that nothing else could possibly go wrong, an enemy far more powerful than anything they’ve faced before emerges in the form of the army. The end of the greatest heist in history is approaching, and what began as a robbery is going to turn into all-out war.

The Spanish crime drama, also known as La Casa de Papel, has been a huge hit for the streaming service in recent years. It has helped encourage the company to invest more in international content. With the show ending this year, they will need something to help fill the void left behind. Money Heist season 5 volume 1 arrives September 3 on the Netflix streaming service. Be sure to check out the new teaser for yourself.
