  • Natacha Karam Reveals What’s Next for Marjan in 9-1-1 Lone Star

The actress was heartbroken as her character bids goodbye to firehouse 126.

Fox

The latest episode of 9-1-1: Lone Star saw Marjan Marwani bidding goodbye to firehouse 126. Natacha Karam, who portrays Marjan on the Fox series, has always been among the favorites. Fans were saddened that Marjan decided to quit as a firefighter at the 126. However, Karam confirms that her character on the spin-off on 9-1-1 is not gone for good.

Marjan will be out of sight for a while since she went out of state alone, but the viewers will still get to see her in the future. Viewers will soon get to follow her but not too soon. Although she’s not permanently out of the series, Karam said she’d had difficulty filming that farewell scene.

Natacha Karam tells EW, “It was heavy. It was a heavy scene. There was a lot of sadness in the room. No one had seen the next scripts, so even as actors we didn’t know. It was like, ‘Okay. Well, when am I going to get to work with all of you again as characters?’ It was extremely sad.”

She further shared details of her farewell scene and said, “It was sad, because everyone knows she wants to be a firefighter at the 126 more than anything, but now she feels like she can’t. There’s kind of this paralysis within her that’s set in. And everyone’s just watching it and knows that there’s nothing they can do. I think everyone felt really helpless watching her drive off, and no one knew what was coming next.”

When asked if she’ll be at TK and Carlos’ wedding, she said, “Yes, but for now, standing in that room in that firehouse saying goodbye, no one knows when they’re going to see her again. And the idea of the wedding is like, ‘Yeah. Yeah. Of course all my friendships and relationships are going to sustain themselves. It’s just the professional element of it.’”

She continued, “Of course, I’m still going to come to my friend’s wedding. Of course I’m still going to show up for birthdays and be on FaceTime. But I’m not going to be here as a firefighter anymore. That’s the part that’s going to be different.”

She shared what’s next for Marjan: “It’s not like Marjan is just going to come back and start working at the firehouse again. That is not the arc of this season. She is gone. She’s out of state. She is alone. She’s off on her own adventures, which the audience will get to follow her on — but not right away.”
