The latest episode of Saturday Night Live roasted Barbie as first-time host Pete Davidson and other SNL cast members parodied the Ken song from the movie. The first pre-recorded sketch in the premiere episode of the 49th season of SNL, saw Davidson play his own version of a Ken doll and sing a parody of the song “I’m Just Ken” (originally sung by Ryan Gosling in the Barbie movie). The King of Staten Island star’s tune was titled “I’m Just Pete” and featured elaborate set pieces reminiscent of the film’s predominantly pink backdrop.

The musical number referenced some of the tabloid-worthy events that have occurred in Davidson’s real-life including the comedian’s romantic relationships, his experiences with mental illness, and even his legal woes. This included the comedian singing lyrics like “I’m just Pete, anyone else I’d be a three, but I guess I’m hot for dudes in comedy, because it’s an ugly industry.”

Davidson continued with the line, “I’m just Pete, looking like a meth head on the street, people online still call me Skete because of a guy whose name I can’t say legally.” An image of Kanye West then quickly flashed on screen.

Later in the song, Davidson addressed going to rehab by singing, “And out of the blue, like three times a year when you least expect it … I go to rehab.” The comedian also poked fun at his public past relationships singing, “I’m just Pete, my dating life is not discreet. I generate tons of publicity for everything, accept my comedy.” Other “Petes” in the skit included Bowen Yang and Devin Walker. You can check out the sketch in all its glory below:

New episodes of SNL air Saturdays at 11:30 PM ET on NBC.

Barbie Has Become One of Warner Bros. Highest-Grossing Films

With Oscar-nominated writer/director Greta Gerwig’s Barbie proving to be a serious hit and becoming one of Warner Bros. highest-grossing films in recent years, it’s no surprise that the long-running comedy show chose to parody an element of the film. Barbie producer David Heyman previously said of the success:

“One of the reasons the film has done so well is because it’s original. There’s a real hunger for originality. Greta Gerwig is a singular artist, she pushes the boundaries of what’s possible in the most collaborative way. The film is fun, thematically rich, and very moving. It was challenging, of course, but when we made it, there was a spirit of fun that permeated the production.”

Barbie stars Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling as Barbie and Ken. Other versions of Barbie are portrayed by Hari Nef, Emma Mackey, Dua Lipa, Ana Cruz Kayne, Sharon Rooney, Kate McKinnon, Nicola Coughlan, Alexandra Shipp, Ritu Arya, and Issa Rae. Meanwhile, other versions of Ken are played by Kingsley Ben-Adir, Scott Evans, Simu Liu, and Ncuti Gatwa. Emerald Fennell plays Midge and Michael Cera portrays Allan. The movie also features America Ferrera, Ariana Greenblatt, Helen Mirren, Connor Swindells, Jamie Demetriou, and Will Ferrell as non-Barbie characters.

Barbie is currently available to purchase on streaming platforms like Amazon Prime Video, YouTube, and Apple TV.
