She’s the one you’re rooting for in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, especially by the end of the Prime Video series’ epic first season. After all, Welsh actress Morfydd Clark steals the show as Galadriel. Since season two of The Rings of Power is right around the corner (releasing Aug. 29), Clark was able to tease what’s to come with the highly anticipated next installment — without revealing too much, of course. “I love mortal enemies and particularly mortal enemies that are very well-dressed. And I think we’ve got that extra in this one,” Clark told MovieWeb. “So I’m really excited for people to see mortal enemies.”
Clark is referring to the character Halbrand, played by Charlie Vickers, whom she shared numerous scenes with in season one. Halbrand has a dark side, as viewers ultimately discover. “He’s very good at what he’s doing. He’s unfortunately evil and incredibly competent, the worst kind,” said Clark about Vickers’ character in season two, adding:
He has a mission, which makes him particularly terrifying. And it’s a wonderful performance from our gorgeous Charlie Vickers. So yeah, I’m really excited… and it’s quite a different world. The darkness has risen.

LOTR & HOTD: Morfydd Clark and Matt Smith Team Up
Clark is currently starring with Matt Smith in the creepy folk horror film Starve Acre out of the United Kingdom. Season one of the actors’ hit shows — The Rings of Power and House of the Dragon — were released around the same time and took on a sort of rivalry dynamic, but Clark reports some funny little parallels she and Smith were able to bond over. “We talked a lot about how amazing the armor is on the shows and also how terribly uncomfortable it is,” she said, adding:
These fantasy epics, the acting is kind of the least interesting part of it because the behind-the-scenes is just wild… It was nice to be doing something kind of a bit folkloric and fantasy with him.
Clark continued on the perks of teaming up with Smith:
“I was so blessed to be with Matt because I met him just before my first-ever press tour, and
he gave me the whole lowdown about it, about Comic-Con, all that stuff
, and just kind of made me feel a lot better… It’s probably quite useful for our film because he was obviously like, ‘
This woman is in terror about this press tour. I need to calm her down!
‘ But yeah, it was quite fun. We laugh about that quite a lot, and also kind of like, ‘We’re not in blond wigs! We’re comfortable and can scratch our heads.'”
