And Just Like That… star Sarah Jessica Parker has taken her cutest co-star from the set into her home. Taking to social media, Parker revealed that she and husband Matthew Broderick had welcomed in Lotus, a new furry housemate. And Just Like That… viewers will likely recognize Parker’s new cat, as Lotus appears in the Max series as Shoe, Carrie Bradshaw’s (Parker) cat. Talk about life imitating art!
Parker captioned a carousel of photos (via Instagram) of Lotus with Parker and at home with his new siblings, Parker’s other adopted cats, Rémy and Smila: “His off-camera name is Lotus. He and his siblings were all given botanical names when they were rescued as newborns by the @cthumanesociety. Adopted officially by the Parker/Broderick family in April 2023. He joins Rémy and Smila whom we adopted in May 2022. If he looks familiar, that’s because he is.”
Parker’s post was flooded with comments from AJLT fans who were happy to learn that Lotus and Parker’s bond had transcended off-screen, and others who hope to see more of Lotus in the upcoming third season of AJLT. The Sex and the City sequel series was renewed for a third season ahead of its August 24 second season finale. Max’s Head of Content Sarah Aubrey shared the news in a statement:

Other Stars Who Have Bonded With Their On-Screen Pets
HBO Entertainment
Lotus joins a select list of companions who have been adopted after meeting their humans on-set.
Beginning in 2011, Sophie Turner starred in Game of Thrones as Sansa Stark. The actress became so enamored with her character’s pet direwolf, Lady (real name Zunni), that she adopted the Northern Innuit dog once Lady was no longer a part of the fantasy drama. Sadly, Zunni passed away in 2017, with Turner later adopting two Alaskan Klee Kai dogs.
In Peter Atencio’s 2016 buddy comedy Keanu, numerous cats portrayed the titular character. The film earned high marks from critics and audiences but Haddish, who starred in the film alongside Jordan Peele and Keegan-Michael Key, gained more than just praise for her comedic chops. Once production wrapped, Haddish adopted one of the film’s star kittens, which she later renamed Catonic.
While dogs and cats are the most conventional choice for pets, numerous stars have also bonded so closely with on-set horses that they’ve given them homes. Brendan Fraser took Pecas, one of the horses from the 2015 miniseries Texas Rising, home to a barn in New York, while Viggo Mortensen felt so connected to the two horses (real names Eurayus and Kenny) that carried Aragorn through the Middle-earth in Lord of the Rings, that he decided to give them a home. Mortensen also adopted a third horse, the white one that appears in The Fellowship of the Ring.
Elizabeth Taylor meanwhile met her beloved pet horse King Charles, who appeared in the film National Velvet with Taylor, when she was just 12. Throughout filming, Taylor often requested to keep King Charles, and was eventually gifted the horse.
