In just a couple days, The Book of Boba Fett will be hitting Disney+ on Wednesday and they’ve just introduced us to a motorbiking mutineer power-sliding into a skidding stop, ready to give chase! Who is this young woman on a mission? With the details of the new show’s cards being held firmly close to the vest, the audience will have to wait two more nights to find out just how she might fit into the picture. Until then, here’s a taste!
The limited cast listed currently includes Temuera Morrison (Boba Fett), Ming-Na Wen (Fennec Shand) and Jennifer Beals, who recently proved just how much the highly-anticipated program is being kept under wraps, admitting to Variety, “I mean, I knew about the character. But this is how good they are at the lockdown of secrets: Even when I first stepped onto the set, I didn’t realize that I was in The Book of Boba Fett. I just knew that I was getting to be part of this story.” After finding herself part of the epic saga, she says, “I wanted to tell everybody, and I couldn’t tell anyone.”
MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY
The trailers that have been released in the past two months have long-time Star Wars fans getting their wish to delve inside the elusive and mysterious character of Boba Fett, while simultaneously exploring Jabba’s underworld. If you’ve missed them, here’s your primer!
The Disney+ official synopsis reads: “The Book of Boba Fett, a thrilling Star Wars adventure teased in a surprise end-credit sequence following the Season 2 finale of The Mandalorian, finds legendary bounty hunter Boba Fett and mercenary Fennec Shand navigating the galaxy’s underworld when they return to the sands of Tatooine to stake their claim on the territory once ruled by Jabba the Hutt and his crime syndicate.”
The Mandalorian creators Jon Favreau (Chef, Iron Man), Dave Filoni and Robert Rodriguez (The Director’s Chair, From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series) will be directing episodes, along with Bryce Dallas Howard. Executive producer and director, Jon Favreau, gave some insight into the storyline, explaining, “There is a power vacuum, because Jabba is gone. Jabba was clearly a very strong and imposing leader, who people were very scared of, and who seemed to rule with an iron fist. You pull somebody like that out of the ecosystem of Tatooine – and Hutt Space in general – and you have the opportunity that’s ripe in the gangster genre. Although Boba Fett is a very experienced bounty hunter, he’s not experienced at running a criminal syndicate or managing forces. He’s not normally a newcomer. He’s an expert as we see him in most areas. But in this case, he’s trying to transition to another position.”
Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, Robert Rodriguez, Kathleen Kennedy and Colin Wilson are the executive producers. Karen Gilchrist and Carrie Beck serve as co-executive producers, with John Bartnicki producing and John Hampian as co-producer. Disney+ The Book of Boba Fett will have seven weekly episodes, commencing Wednesday, December 29, exclusively on the streaming platform.

For years, I have been writing, speaking at length, and thanking the gods that my shocking encyclopedic knowledge of music, film and TV has proven valuable. Most commonly asked question? “Why do you know that?”
