Season 4 of USA Networks’ critically acclaimed series, The Sinner, will be making its return to the television screen next month. The official announcement was made just earlier today with an all-new trailer, and a confirmed premiere date for the new upcoming season. Once again, the now-retired Harry Ambrose will be investigating yet another unexpected tragedy, while also serving as a…witness?
Revealed in the all-new trailer, Ambrose seems to have stumbled himself upon the new mystery. “Have you been drinking tonight? What about drugs, medications you’re on?” as officers ask Harry. “Look, I saw her fall,” he insisted. “She was out on the bluff, and she went straight out to the edge.” The question now arises, did Ambrose truly see what he claims to have seen? When it comes to each season of The Sinner and its crazy mysteries, who knows what Ambrose truly witnessed happening that evening and what will unfold from that point.

The Sinner is an American police procedural anthology television series for the USA Network. The series was developed by Derek Simonds, and stars Bill Pullman who plays as a police detective who investigates crimes committed by unlikely culprits, and attempts to uncover their motivations. The Sinner was originally intended to only be an eight part miniseries. Once the series had initially premiered on August 2nd, 2017, the show’s success had then led the USA Network to transforming the show into an anthology series. The second season aired in 2018, while the third season later aired in 2020.
The official synopsis for The Sinner season 4 reads as, “Still reeling from the trauma of a previous case a year ago, the now-retired Harry Ambrose (once again played by Bill Pullman) travels to Hanover Island in northern Maine for a recuperative getaway with his partner Sonya (returning series regular Jessica Hecht). But when an unexpected tragedy occurs involving Percy Muldoon (Orange Is the New Black’s Alice Kremelberg), the daughter of a prominent island family, Ambrose is recruited to help the investigation, only to be thrown into a mystery of mounting paranoia that will turn this sleepy tourist island, and Ambrose’s life, upside down.” In addition to Pullman and Hecht reprising their roles in the upcoming fourth season, other cast members making an appearance this season will include Frances Fisher, Alice Kremelberg, Neal Huff, Cindy Cheung, Ronin Wong, and Michael Mosely.
The first season of The Sinner had received a nomination for the Golden Globe Award for Best Miniseries or Television Film, and a nomination for Best Actress of a Miniseries or Television Film for Jessica Biel. The actress was also nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie. The Sinner was named after Petra’s Hammesfahr’s 1999 novel, which served as the main plot for the first season. The show’s developer Derek Simonds will serve as a showrunner and executive producer for season 4, while Jessica Biel, Michelle Purple, Charlie Gogolak, Adam Bernstein, and Nina Braddock will also serve as executive producers. The Sinner season 4 has now been confirmed to premiere on Wednesday October 13th (at 10/9c) on the USA Network
