The Walking Dead Season 11 First Look Arrives with Synopsis for Final Episodes

August 22, 2021, will mark the beginning of the end for AMC’s The Walking Dead. The popular zombie series will return for one final season that is being extended to include 24 episodes. AMC is giving fans a special sneak peek at what to expect in these last episodes. Here are the official images and synopsis furnished by the creators of the series.

Previously on The Walking Dead, our survivors confronted past demons and combated new threats, with friendships and relationships suffering from the mounting collateral damage that is the apocalypse. Alexandria is severely compromised, left a former shell of the home it once was from the carnage and devastation left behind by the Whisperers.

Now all who live in Alexandria struggle to refortify it and feed its increasing number of residents, which include the survivors from the fall of the Kingdom and the burning of Hilltop; along with Maggie and her new group, the Wardens. Alexandria has more people than it can manage to feed and protect. Their situation is dire as tensions heat up over past events and self-preservation rises to the surface within the ravaged walls.

They must secure more food while they attempt to restore Alexandria before it collapses like countless other communities they have come across throughout the years. But where and how? More haggard and hungrier than ever before, they must dig deeper to find the effort and strength to safeguard the lives of their children, even if it means losing their own.

Meanwhile, unbeknownst to those at Alexandria, Eugene, Ezekiel, Yumiko, and Princess are still being held captive by mysterious soldiers who are members of a larger and unforthcoming group.

There will be 11 episodes before the final season goes on hiatus, and then they will be picking back up again in 2022 to close out a program that has thrilled audiences since 2010. Fans that can’t get enough have no need to worry. They can get their zombie fix from the spin-off standalone series starring fan favorites Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride, reprising their roles of Daryl and Carol. AMC describes it as “an episodic anthology with individual episodes or arcs of episodes focused on new or existing characters, backstories or other stand-alone experiences.” There is also the anthology Tales of the Walking Dead coming to AMC as well.

Season 10’s finale -SPOILER ALERT- sets us up for what we can imagine will be Negan’s new attitude as he wraps some barbed wire from their fence around the bat, puts on the jacket his wife eventually gave him, and sets their house and his wife on fire. As he watches everything he lived for go up in flames, a new Negan emerges.

Fans around the world have coveted The Walking Dead and its compelling cast of characters, getting their hearts broken over the ones we’ve lost, for over a decade. It inspired Chris Hardwick to analyze and speculate with the cast and guests on what was a novel concept show at the time Talking Dead. You can catch them at conventions around the world, fans flocking to catch a glimpse or hear from their favorite warrior of their zombie death-dealings. It’s hard to believe it all started 11 years ago as Sheriff Deputy Rick Grimes wakes up from a coma to learn the world is in ruins and must lead a group of survivors to stay alive.
