CBS has released the first teaser for CSI: Vegas. Taking the franchise back to where it all began, the Vegas-set series brings back several fan favorite cast members from the original CSI, including William Petersen as Gil Grissom and Jorja Fox as Sara Sidle. News of the CSI reboot was first reported in 2020, but this is our first look at the upcoming series. You can watch the new teaser below.
Celebrating the series that was once the most-watched drama for a decade, the new teaser goes behind the scenes of the relaunched show. Executive producer Jerry Bruckheimer explains in the video how CBS had been planning a relaunch of the original series for a long time as one of the network’s most popular shows in history. It’s added by fellow exec producer Jason Tracey that the new season will “go deeper and showcase some of what’s new in criminal forensics.”

“I am excited to get back to Grissom again,” Petersen says in the teaser. “The way we solved crimes 20 years ago is a lot different than the way we solve crimes now. It’s a different world.”
Fox adds: “The b*tch is back! Being back on the set of CSI is more exciting than I even thought it was going to be. So, Sara meets this new dynamic, intriguing force of criminalists that are on the frontlines fighting crime in Vegas.”
The new series serves as a sequel to the original CSI, which concluded its 15-season run in 2015. Along with the returns of Peterson as Grissom and Fox as Sidle, CSI: Vegas also features returning cast members Paul Guilfoyle as Detective Jim Brass and Wallace Langham as David Hodges. Newcomers to the cast include Mel Rodriguez as Hugo Ramirez, Mandeep Dhillon as Allie Rajan, Paula Newsome as Maxine Roby, and Jamie McShane as civil attorney Anson Wix.
A logline for CSI: Vegas reads: “A new threat has enshrouded the neon streets of Sin City, and it’s going to take some familiar faces to stare it down. William Petersen and Jorja Fox return to the roles they made famous — and to the crime drama that made CBS history — in CSI: Vegas. Together can they prevent the perpetrator from bringing down the whole CSI crime lab? Old friends meet new enemies — and the latest forensic techniques — in CSI: Vegas.”
This new CSI: Crime Scene Investigation show is sort of a cross between a spinoff and a relaunch of the original series, given its mix of old and new characters alike. It is the fifth overall series of the franchise, following the runs of the spinoff shows CSI: Miami, CSI: NY, and CSI: Cyber. The future of the franchise was in the air after Cyber was canceled in 2016 after just two seasons, and CBS is now looking to revitalize the series by going back to its roots in Vegas.
CSI: Vegas is set to premiere on CBS this fall after previously securing its series order, but its exact premiere date has yet to be revealed. It will air on Wednesday nights at 10 p.m. on CBS. The new teaser comes to us from CBS on YouTube.
