Netflix has officially confirmed that the popular romantic drama series Virgin River will return for at least two more years. This confirmation from Netflix comes just weeks after several rumors circulated with reports that season four of Virgin River was in fact moving forward. With the popular series making its return for two more seasons, Netflix has also confirmed to be making a commitment to produce more “comfort” content, USA Today reports.
Speaking about the comfort genre, Jinny Howe, Netflix’s VP of original series, told USA Today: “With everything that’s been going on in the world, people more and more are looking for, not just that comfort, but also that feeling of hope and that feeling of community. All of that really came together in a way that was really organic, and I think this was more of a proof point that this is a really vital area of programming for us.”
