The Bubbles and the Shitrockers Story

The Bubbles and the Shitrockers Story

Check out the trailer for the highly anticipated new comedy film Standing on the Shoulders of Kitties: The Bubbles and the Shitrockers Story, featuring the wildly popular Trailer Park Boys characters. Blue Fox has the film slated for a nationwide theatrical release in the U.S. and Canada on December 6, 2024.

The film stars Mike Smith as “Bubbles”, with his Trailer Park Boys franchise co-stars Robb Wells (“Ricky”), John Paul Tremblay (“Julian”) and Patrick Roach (“Randy”), alongside Billy Bob Thornton. The film also features a special appearance by Ronnie Wood of the Rolling Stones, with guest appearances by Martin Freeman, Robert Sheehan and others.

Directed by Charlie Lightening (Liam Gallagher: As It Was and Louis Tomlinson: All of Those Voices), the screenplay is penned by Mike Smith himself. Standing on the Shoulders of Kitties: The Bubbles and the Shitrockers Story is a Canada-UK treaty co-production, produced by Gary Howsam, Jamie Brown, Mike Smith, John Paul Tremblay, Robb Wells, and Lewin Webb.

The film follows Bubbles and his band, “The Shitrockers,” on a wild tour following a performance in Nova Scotia where a viral clip earns them a spot on a European tour opening for Billy Bob Thornton and the Boxmasters. With Randy as their trusty roadie, the group heads to Prague – only to find themselves kicked off the tour, and busking to survive. With their European dream in jeopardy, Ricky and Julian race to save the day.

Not just fiction on screen, Bubbles and The Shitrockers are a real-life musical act fronted by Mike Smith. The band will release a new 14 track album this fall, following their successful run on platforms like Apple Music and Spotify, as well as extensive touring across the US and Europe, including performances alongside Billy Bob Thornton and the Boxmasters.
