The Walking Dead favorite Jeffrey Dean Morgan is celebrating his 55th birthday as fans pay tribute to the actor on social media. For his role as the zombie apocalypse survivor Negan in The Walking Dead, a part he’s been playing since 2016, Morgan has emerged as one of the horror drama’s most popular stars. Fans of the series far and wide are among the many of JDM’s fans to wish him a happy birthday now that he’s just turned 55.
“Happy birthday to Jeffrey Dean Morgan!” one fan posted to Twitter. “Some of my favourite performances from him are Negan and The Comedian. Shame we aren’t getting a Thomas Wayne Batman =(“

Another fan wrote, “Happy birthday to one of my favourite actors and to the bat wielding zombie slayer who plays one of the best villains on TV Jeffrey Dean Morgan.”

Echoing many others who’ve long held a crush on the actor, one JDM fan adds: “Happy Birthday to, JDM. I’ve had a crush on him for oh…ever at this point.”
Meanwhile, a pair of young JDM fans found a great way to pay the actor tribute. With one dressed as Negan and the other dressed as Judith Grimes on The Walking Dead, the two performed a skit in honor of Morgan’s birthday. It’s both touching and amusing, and you can watch the video below.

Along with his role as the dastardly but charismatic villain Negan on The Walking Dead, Morgan’s other popular performances include playing Denny Duquette in Grey’s Anatomy, John Winchester in Supernatural, The Comedian in Watchmen, and Jason Crouse in The Good Wife. Even though The Walking Dead is ending in 2022, JDM could very well end up playing Negan for some time to come, as he’s also teased a possible Negan spinoff series.
“We’ll see. It’s definitely being talked about,” Morgan said recently on Conan. “I think they’re thinking of a couple different ideas, but I’ve definitely had conversations about possibly continuing the story of Negan.”
Morgan’s newest movie, The Unholy, is also opening in Mexico on his 55th birthday. Produced by Sam Raimi and directed by Evan Spiliotopoulos, the movie was previously released in the United States at the start of the month. Morgan stars as a disgraced journalist investigating strange phenomena in a small New England town, only to discover its sinister origins. If The Unholy is playing at a theater near you, it’s certainly worth checking out if you’re a JDM fan.
