Things you Should Know Before Starting Jiu-Jitsu.

Every BJJ beginner has mixed feelings about the first time they start fighting. However, it doesn’t matter whether you are a white-belt starter or have been practicing BJJ for many years. Read the following tips to get the most out of your BJJ training, and make sure you are up to speed in the future.

Get the Best Instructor

Students are often discouraged when starting their Brazilian jiu-jitsu lessons. With a committed and trustworthy instructor like MMA Factory, you rest assured that your lessons will be the best. Additionally, go for a tutor who likes and enjoys what they do to help you achieve your goals. If your coach doesn’t pay enough attention to making you the best, find an alternative or switch from that gym for a better one.

Communicate

One of the best things about jiu-jitsu is the exchange of ideas on how to perform a technique. Always communicate with more experienced students as you ask them questions. The more experienced students will help you understand what you should have done to stop an attack or pull off that submission you were so close to getting. High-ranked students feel appreciated when they can help.

Have Faith

Always believe in the techniques you are learning. Despite feeling frustrated, try your best to defend punches using skills already in your performance constantly. However, if you feel that you have run out of options, notify your MMA Factory tutor to help you meet your needs.

Do your Homework

A teacher may feel frustrated when doing their best to teach new concepts while the student keeps forgetting. It is essential to do lots of repetitions even if you feel a specific technique doesn’t fit your style. As a beginner, you may not have a set of styles yet. Therefore, what you may currently term of no use may be your essential asset in days to come. Besides doing your homework, take few minutes every day to meditate on the skill in your head.

Try New Things

There is no point in fighting like you are sparring in a championship final all the time. There are times you should go hard; however, allow your MMA Factory instructor to decide when that should happen. Always try new things each day as you put the move of the day into practice. The more spread your game is, the better the tools you will have at your disposal in the future.

Never Compare your Progress with Others

BJJ is a personal activity. Therefore, learn to follow your pace without comparing yourself with the progress of other students. Every practitioner comes with a different capacity and body physique. Hence, learn to remain focused and patient since your goals will eventually become real. Never give up, even though you might face failures and challenges.
