Watch LCD Soundsystem play ’45:33′ for the first time since 2011 as they close Brixton Academy residency

LCD Soundsystem have closed out their Brixton Academy residency by playing ‘45:33’ for the first time since 2011 – watch below.

James Murphy and co played the eighth in their string of shows at the South London venue on Sunday night (June 22), and among classic tracks and their recent releases ‘New Body Rhumba’ and ‘X-Ray Eyes’, they also gave the first airing of the first two parts of ‘45:33’ in 14 years.

The composition was first released in 2006 as a long-form one-track album and was famously played by the band during their run of farewell concerts in 2011 at New York’s Terminal 5 and at Madison Square Garden.

The latter performance went on to be captured in the 2012 documentary film Shut Up And Play The Hits and again on the 2014 live album ‘The Long Goodbye: LCD Soundsystem Live at Madison Square Garden’.

‘Oh Baby’
‘I Can Change’
‘You Wanted A Hit’
‘Tribulations’
‘Tonite’
‘American Dream’
‘On Repeat’
‘Yr City’s A Sucker’
‘New Body Rhumba’
‘45:33 Part One’
‘45:33 Part Two’
‘Someone Great’
‘Home’
‘North American Scum’
‘X-Ray Eyes’
‘Dance Yrself Clean’
‘New York, I Love You But You’re Bringing Me Down’
‘All My Friends’

The band’s next dates are on the US leg of their current tour in August, while they will also play a special pair of joint-headline shows with Pulp at the Hollywood Bowl in September.

The release of ‘X-Ray Eyes’ in October last year is thought to be the first taste of their next album, which was initially reported to be set for release at some point in 2025. Murphy later shared an update on the upcoming record, saying: “Don’t ask me when that is, because we are still working on it. But it feels very good to be putting out new music.”

The standalone track ‘New Body Rhumba’ was created for Noah Baumbach’s 2022 film White Noise and marked their first new material since 2017 comeback album ‘American Dream’, which itself ended a seven-year break after 2010’s ‘This Is Happening’.
