Watch Paul McCartney join Bruce Springsteen on stage in Liverpool to cover The Beatles

Paul McCartney joined Bruce Springsteen on stage in Liverpool tonight to play a version of The Beatles’ ‘Can’t Buy Me Love’ – watch below.

The Boss played the second of two shows at Anfield, the home of Liverpool FC, on Saturday night (June 7) and during his encore, he welcomed the Beatles legend onto the stage.

Returning the favour after Springsteen appeared during McCartney’s huge Glastonbury set in 2022, the two icons played ‘Can’t Buy Me Love’, from 1964’s ‘A Hard Day’s Night’, and followed it with the classic rock’n’roll song ‘Kansas City’, made famous in 1955 by Little Richard.

Springsteen was a guest during the encore of McCartney’s 2022 Glastonbury headline set. “This guy flew in especially to do this,” McCartney said to introduce him, and the two launched into versions of ‘Glory Days’ and ‘I Wanna Be Your Man’.

That came just days after they did the same songs together during Macca’s ‘Get Back’ tour at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Years earlier, Springsteen had joined McCartney at Hyde Park in London for a rendition of ‘I Saw Her Standing There’.

Last year, McCartney presented Springsteen with the Fellow Of The Ivors Academy prize at the Ivor Novello Awards in London. “Like Bruce’s concerts, I’m going to keep this brief,” he joked, referencing the Boss’ three hour plus concerts, before adding that he “couldn’t think of a more fitting” recipient “except maybe Bob Dylan, or Paul Simon, or Billy Joel, or Beyoncé, or Taylor Swift. The list goes on.”

He continued: “He’s known as the American working man but he admits he’s never worked a day in his life.”

The former Beatle has also quipped in the past that the Boss is the one he “blames” for fans coming to expect major stars to play long sets.
