Watch President cover Deftones’ ‘Change (In The House Of Flies)’ at London show

President covered Deftones‘ ‘Change (In The House Of Flies)’ at their London show last night (June 30). Check out footage of the moment below.

The anonymous band played The Garage in London in front of a packed crowd on Wednesday night, having amassed a cultlike following since they burst onto the scene, seemingly out of nowhere, earlier this year.

By design, little is known about the band, who got people talking after being added to the list of artists set to perform at this year’s Download Festival. At the time, they had no music out, had never posted online, and had not shared any information about their members.

Since then, they’ve made their debut at the metal festival and have released two tracks, ‘Fearless’ and ‘In The Name Of The Father’. The songs are taken from their upcoming EP ‘King of Terrors’, which is set for release on September 26 (pre-save here).

They served as the respective opener and closer to last night’s show, with President’s brief six-song set also seeing them play a handful of unreleased tracks and take on Deftones’ 2000 hit, which you can watch below.

President at The Garage played:

‘Fearless’
‘Dionysus’
‘RAGE’
‘Change (In the House of Flies)’ (Deftones cover)
‘Destroy Me’
‘In the Name of the Father’

NME’s Rishi Shah nodded to their cult-like following in a three-star review of last night’s show, writing: “The unreleased ‘Dionysus’, assuredly cut from the same pop-metal cloth as opening track ‘Fearless’, packs some punch when it reaches its breakdown.

Dressed in black boiler suits and balaclavas, the other three members remain stoic and robotic as their frontman paces left and right during the Bicep-esque ‘Rage’. Incredibly, the crowd scream its lyrics louder than when they launch into a slick, surprise cover of Deftones’ ‘Change (In The House Of Flies)’. Though they’ve been shoehorned into the rock and metal world, President clearly hold allure for a diverse range of music fans.”

Although no one knows who the members of the group are, a lot of fans are convinced that their frontman is Charlie Simpson. Following early speculation that the Busted and Fightstar musician might be part of the project, many said they were then “10000 per cent convinced” without “any doubt” it was him after the Download appearance.

Earlier this week, they announced their debut headline UK and Ireland tour, set to kick off in 2026. Coined the ‘Campaign Trail’, the string of shows will see them head to Manchester, Glasgow, Leeds, Bristol and Norwich throughout the month, before a final show at London’s O2 Forum Kentish Town.
