Wednesday Season 2 Will Include a Trio of Brand-New Characters

Summary

  • Karloff, Wolfgang, and Annie are three new characters reportedly joining season two of Wednesday as series regulars.
  • “Karloff is a young, athletic male teen who will wear prosthetics. Wolfgang is a charming and confident male teen, and Annie is a whip-smart young girl aged 12 to 14.”
  • Wednesday’s season two production will take place in Ireland, and shooting is set to begin in April 2024, with most of the original cast returning for the new adventures.

Wednesday Addams may pity the men who love and adore her, but that won’t stop the creation of cartoonist Charles Addams from returning to Netflix. Back in January, and way before either the Writers Guild of America (WGA) or the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) strikes began, Netflix greenlit season two of Wednesday. And it’s been revealed that three more regulars will be joining the cast. Check out the character breakdown for the new trio of Karloff, Wolfgang and Annie below (per What’s on Netflix):

Karloff is the first character we understand is being cast for the new season. The character is described as a young, athletic male teen with the actor having to wear prosthetics.

Wolfgang is the next character we’re hearing that’s going to feature in season 2. Also a male teen, the character is described as charming and confident.

The final (but likely not the last new character) we understand will feature in season 2 is Annie, a young girl aged between 12 to 14 described as whip-smart and wise beyond her years.”

About a month before the SAG-AFTRA strike began, and amid the WGA dispute, Wednesday stars Jenna Ortega, Emma Myers, Hunter Doohan and Joy Sunday participated in an official Netflix video (below), which revealed that even the stars of the show don’t know what’s in store for season two.

Wednesday Season 2

Wednesday

Follows Wednesday Addams’ years as a student, when she attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart and solve the mystery that embroiled her parents. Directed by Tim Burton.

Jenna Ortega might be done with the Scream franchise, or at the very least the seventh installment, but the actress will pick up the mantle of the titular Addams character in season two of Wednesday. In addition to the three new characters (Karloff, Wolfgang and Annie) who are reportedly joining Netflix’s streaming series, a “new member of the Addams family” has already been confirmed for the show’s sophomore go-round. So, could Wolfgang be the new Addams whose identity was being kept secret?

In The Addams Family (1992) animated series, in which the original TV show’s John Astin reprised the role of Gomez, an Uncle Wolfgang is mentioned in the story Little Big Thing. Given that Uncle Wolfgang is likely the same age as Uncle Fester (Fred Armisen), it’s logical to assume that the Wolfgang mentioned in the character breakdown will likely be a cousin of Wednesday’s.

What fans know for sure is that Wednesday’s season two production will take place in Ireland, whereas season one was filmed in Romania. Shooting is scheduled to begin in April of 2024, and most of the original cast will return for the follow-up adventures of Wednesday Addams and her Nevermore Academy classmates.
