What’s Returning from Midseason Hiatus

Mid-season hiatus. It’s a terrible thing. Have you ever been following your favorite series, week to week, and then you tune in one day, and it isn’t there? It’s happened to all of us! Sometimes our favorite shows go on hiatus just so the station can fit all that TV goodness on their schedule, or maybe because they’re trying to build some serious tension halfway through the season. Whatever the case, right when a show’s got us hooked, they hold us on the line and make us wait for more.

NCIS, Law & Order, and Hell’s Kitchen all return after the holiday season. Most major networks, such as CBS, ABC, and Fox, have mid-season story breaks. It creates a more manageable time period for writers. Instead of one big story arc that might go for a whole season, they can fit two smaller ones that still create a big impact. It also helps them show viewers different content on their channel so people tune in more than once a year. But for TV viewers, it fills us with anticipation, so we’re counting the days until Special Victims Unit comes back on the air. Here is a guide to help ensure you can be on time for your favorite show’s return from hiatus.
