The Real Housewives of the North Pole Gets Kyle Richards and Betsy Brandt

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills stars, Kyle Richards} and Breaking Bad’s Betsy Brandt are teaming up for Peacock’s The Real Housewives Of the North Pole.

Peacock, a video streaming service from NBCUniversal, which is a subsidiary of Comcast, launched on July 15th, 2020. Some of the streamer’s most popular reality shows fall under the umbrella of Bravo TV’s The Real Housewives. Now, this franchise’s title is serving as inspiration for Peacock’s first original holiday film.

According to Deadline, Richards and Betsy Brandt will play Trish and Diana, respectively, the Christmas queens in the town of North Pole, Vermont, who win the competition every year for the best holiday house decorating. But, days before Christmas, an argument between the friends leads to a town-wide feud … and to a national magazine writer wanting to take advantage of the drama and the story by releasing an expose called “Real Housewives of the North Pole.”

The Real Housewives of the North Pole will be directed by Ron Oliver, known for other holiday movies like A Dennis the Menace Christmas, Christmas Everlasting, and Christmas at the Plaza. Tippi Dobrofsky, Neal Dobrofsky, and Spyder Dobrofsky will write and executive produce; Brad Krevoy, Amanda Phillips, and Eric Jarboe will serve as executive producers; and Jake Relic, David Wulf, and Chris Bongirne will also produce.

As mentioned, Brandt is best known for her role on Breaking Bad, as she played Marie Schrader. Recently, she also appeared on television shows The Unicorn and Love, Victor. Richards has been on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills since its first season in 2010, and she has been acting since she was a child; she has worked on series such as Little House on the Prairie, and, notably, she portrayed Lindsey Wallace in 1978’s Halloween- a role she reprised for Halloween Kills, which is set to release on October 15th, 2021. When news of this new holiday film came out on July 15th, Richards turned to Instagram, sharing photos and saying she is “so excited about this new project” and “so happy to be working with this incredible actress [Betsy Brandt].”

This project, which was originally developed as a television series, as stated by Hollywood Reporter, will start production this month in Utah, and it will be released on Peacock later this year.

Currently, Peacock has an array of entertainment options: There are older comedies like 30 Rock and current ones like Brooklyn Nine-Nine, dramas like Friday Night Lights, classics like The Munsters, and other reality TV shows like Keeping Up With the Kardashians. While there are numerous flicks available through the streaming service, too, live-action Universal films will actually be going exclusively to Prime Video after their premieres on Peacock, due to a licensing deal starting next year (via The Verge). Peacock will host the Tokyo Olympic Games live, as well.

The Real Housewives Of the North Pole is not the only big and recent announcement from this company: As reported by Hollywood Reporter, Peacock has secured $500 million in up-front commitments, on top of the $100 million in commitments from last year. This news comes to us from Deadline.
