SPOILERS for Cobra Kai Season 4 to follow…
The Karate Kid Part 3 villain, Terry Silver, proved to be a very welcome addition to the world of Cobra Kai, with the pony-tailed menace worming his way into proceedings and emerging as the series’ biggest snake so far. With Cobra Kai season 4 ending as Silver tightens his stranglehold on the Valley, star Thomas Ian Griffith has teased Silver’s influence of season 5…and it sounds like things will get even worse.
“You’re going to see the next level of Terry Silver. It is like what the creators say, “What if Terry had won the All Valley Karate Tournament in 1989?” So we’ll explore that — and it is fascinating.”
Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Griffith reveals that there is a whole other level to Terry Silver’s evil. Something which should chill Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence to the bone. A close friend of fellow bad guy John Kreese from his military days, Terry Silver is the main antagonist in 1989’s The Karate Kid Part III, and a character that many fans had hoped would return for revenge against Danny LaRusso and the legacy of Mr. Miyagi. The Karate Kid Part III saw John Kreese and Terry Silver continue to torment Daniel-San and his beloved mentor, with Silver even managing to force a wedge between the duo, training Daniel-San in brutal, violent, and offensive techniques to rival those of even John Kreese.

Cobra Kai Season 4 sees Terry Silver return to the action, with the karate-loving psycho having at first tried to bury his demons within a life of success and opulence. Sadly, thanks to John Kreese storming back into his life, the beast within Silver has taken over once again, with the final moments showing the true nature of the man as he frames Kreese for assault and has him taken away to spend some time in a jail cell. With Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang Karate now forced to close due to their loss at the All-Valley tournament, Silver’s scheming is sure to ramp up more than ever before.
Netflix
Though The Karate Kid Part III is not a well-liked installment in the franchise, fans have always loved the antics of Terry Silver. With his luscious ponytail and terrifying smile, Cobra Kai brings Silver back and successfully adds some much-needed depth to the villain, something which Thomas Ian Griffith really appreciated. “It’s been surreal. I am amazed that so many people are Terry Silver fans,” the actor said of season 4’s release. “Even from that first little teaser that Netflix put out, I was shocked. It has been a ride and so fulfilling to take a character from the first film I ever did and bring him back all these years later. It was an archetypal two-dimension over-the-top character and all of a sudden he’s this complex, multidimensional character.”
The fourth season of Cobra Kai has proven to be another huge success for Netflix, hitting 120 million hours viewed in its first three days. With season 5 already wrapped, and the creators now discussing season 6, we can all rest easy knowing that there is plenty more from Cobra Kai still to come.
All four seasons of Cobra Kai are now available to stream on Netflix.
