Amazon’s Lord of The Rings Trailer Will Drop During Super Bowl

The first trailer for Amazon’s Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will arrive this weekend, giving fans a first look at the new Middle Earth.

Amazon Prime Video will be releasing their first teaser trailer for their upcoming Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power TV series during this weekend’s Super Bowl, according to THR. Fans of Tolkien’s fantasy world of Middle Earth have been desperate to see footage of the new show, which will act as a prequel to The Hobbit and Lord of The Rings stories and has a lot to prove considering its phenomenal budget. Amazon previously released a short teaser revealing the title of the new series, and now it looks like we are about to get our first view of this highly anticipated return to the lands or Men, Elves and Dwarves.

MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY

Set millennia before the adventure of Frodo Baggins, Lord of the Rings, The Rings of Power will chart the rise of Sauron during the Second Age of Middle Earth. Pulling from the many volumes of world-building texts written by Tolkien that detailed the wars and battles that formed the Middle Earth seen in his two well-known stories, Amazon’s show is said to have a five-season plan in place, and in total will cost over $1 billion, making it the most expensive and ambitious TV series ever made.

While Amazon has been keeping everything well under wraps on the series, with seemingly no set leaks, no online rumors, and no detailed plot information being released at all, it looks like this Sunday will see the veil final start to draw back as we get a first look at the series, which will make its premiere on Amazon Prime Video in September 2022. This new trailer will go with the recently released title reveal video and the 20 character posters that were shared online this month.

The Lord Of The Rings Trailer Will Be One of Many Big Trailers Coming During This Sunday’s Super Bowl

While it would seem like The Lord of The Rings trailer will be the most anticipated advertisement coming during this year’s Super Bowl, there are several high-profile shows and movies also putting out some big trailers at the event. Among those expected to put on a show during the game is new Marvel footage from Doctor Strange in The Multiverse of Madness and Disney+ series Moon Knight, as well as the first trailer for Star Wars series Obi-Wan Kenobi. There are additional rumors that new footage from Jurassic World: Dominion and Jordan Peele’s Nope will also arrive at some point.

It is clear that none of these titles actually need to build any more hype by releasing Super Bowl trailers, but their respective studios will gladly take the massive spike in attention that the sports event brings to anything that pulls out the cash to have their projects put in front of one of the biggest worldwide audiences available. Amazon’s Lord of The Rings is already in the minds of many thanks to its recent promotions, but they are not going to decline the chance to have a first look at the series put in front of tens of millions of people.
