Samuel L. Jackson Clears Up Breaking Bad Cameo Rumors

Veteran actor Samuel L. Jackson almost appeared on Breaking Bad, but not in exactly the way that has been rumored. Jackson, a big fan of the series, recently took a moment to comment on an Instagram post by Did You Know Movies which told the legend of Jackson’s near-cameo in the hit AMC series. According to the rumor, Jackson had planned to sneak into a scene dressed a Nick Fury, perhaps setting Breaking Bad in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As it turns out, the story is half-true.

“While filming The Avengers in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Samuel L. Jackson discovered Breaking Bad was shooting in the studio across from his own set. He attempted to sneak into the background of a scene dressed as Nick Fury, but the producers caught him and reused his offer for a cameo,” the original post by Did You Know Movies reads.

MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY

“Not true! I just wanted to go into Hermanos & buy some chicken in the background of a scene as myself, but never got the time to do,” Jackson fired back in the comments.

It’s not exactly a secret that Jackson is a Breaking Bad fan. Back in 2013, he recorded a video of himself delivering one of Walter White’s (Bryan Cranston) monologues in the show, replicating the moment the chemist tells his wife Skyler, “I am the one who knocks.” It’s interesting to see this dialogue coming from another big name actor like Jackson, even if it’s impossible at this point to truly imagine anyone else as Heisenberg. The Breaking Bad Universe Will Soon Come to a Close

AMC

While Breaking Bad ended in 2013, its universe was further expanded starting in 2014 with the debut of the prequel series Better Call Saul. The how is set in the years leading up to Breaking Bad, revealing the origin story of the criminal lawyer Saul Goodman. The sixth and final season of the show was just given an April premiere date, signaling the beginning of the end of the spinoff series. There are no active plans to develop any more TV shows in this universe, which means we’re likely looking at the end of the overall Breaking Bad story.

Plans could always change. In 2019, Netflix released El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie, which served as a follow-up to the TV show and brought back Aaron Paul’s Jesse Pinkman alongside a slew of other fan favorites. With Jesse’s story wrapped up and most everyone else deceased, there’s not much room left to move forward with the story, but El Camino hadn’t been in the cards when Breaking Bad ended, either. Perhaps with the right idea, this universe could one day be revisited with a new story.

As for Samuel L. Jackson, fans didn’t get to see him in the background at Los Pollos Hermanos on Breaking Bad, but he can be seen in the upcoming Marvel series Secret Invasion on Disney+.
