Pom Klementieff Wraps Filming on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

Mantis actress Pom Klementieff shared a celebratory cake image on Instagram after completing filming on the new MCU movie.

Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures

Last week James Gunn hinted that filming on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was heading to a close, and it looks like Pom Klementieff has already wrapped on the movie. The actress plays Mantis in the Guardians series of movies and after originally joining the group in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, she almost managed to end the plans of Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War before being dusted and then brought back in Avengers: Endgame to aid in the defeat of the Mad Titan and his army of followers. Now she is set to reprise her role in this summer’s Thor: Love and Thunder, the Christmas-released Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special and next year’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3, which many or may not be her final appearance in the role.

While the production on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and the Holiday Special began at the end of last year, it is only in the last couple of months that filming got underway, and with the shoot set to end this month it looks like the end is here already for Klementieff, who shared an image of a cake she made to celebrate the end of filming, which bears the words, “We Are Groot.” In the post she commented, “Love my Guardians of the Galaxy family! I wrapped #GotGVol3 , here is a cake I made. We are Groot forever.”

The post was liked by many fans as well as by Karen Gillan, who plays Nebula in the MCU, and director James Gunn, who replied to the post with three love heart emojis.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Is Set To Be Emotional For Fans

The latest installment of the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise will see some of the cast make their final appearances in their MCU roles. Although there is currently no details on exactly who will be leaving the franchise by the end of the movie, or how they will leave, there are a few suggestions being talked about including Dave Bautista’s Drax, who seems to be at the end of his story according to comments made by the actor last year.

However, while the new film has been said to be an emotional rollercoaster by Karen Gillan and Zoe Saldana, who plays Nebula’s sister Gamora, there will still be plenty of laughs, action and some new and old faces to keep things ticking along for the future. Sylvester Stallone will be back for another cameo appearance, and it is almost a guarantee that Howard the Duck will be making yet another return for his regular Guardians scene, but it is really newcomer Will Poulter as Adam Warlock that has fans really excited about the new movie.

Having been teased in the post-credit scene of Guardians of the Galaxy 2, it has taken quite a while for Adam Warlock to finally arrive in the MCU, but it seems certain to have been worth the wait. How the character fits into the storyline, which is set to feature a lot of upheaval for the Guardians following the events of Avengers: Endgame and whatever befalls them in Thor: Love and Thunder, is currently to be revealed. With director James Gunn confirming there will be no trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 until next year, fans have to be a bit more patient as they wait to find out.
