Alpha’s Transformation Shown in Tales of the Walking Dead BTS Image

The Walking Dead fans have been without Samantha Morton’s portrayal of Alpha since her character was killed by Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) in season 10. However, her character returned in an episode of Tales of the Walking Dead, a spinoff to AMC’s hit program. The new series is an episodic anthology that follows characters from The Walking Dead universe, both new and old.

Alpha is known as the leader of the whisperers, a savage group who did whatever it took to stay alive, even if that meant skinning walkers and wearing their faces to blend in with the hoards found across the zombie-infested area. During the third episode of the series, titled Dee, audiences got a look at the origins of Alpha. Before she was a member of the whisperers, she was a woman named Dee, who focused on protecting her child Lydia, a prominent character within The Walking Dead.

Although it’s unclear whether we will ever see her character reappear in TWD universe, fans at least get one last look at Alpha courtesy of AMC. The official Instagram account of The Walking Dead shared a behind-the-scenes photo of Morton in her Alpha gear, with the bald cap on and all. The post can be found below.

The possibilities are endless with Tales of the Walking Dead, as we’ve already seen Terry Crews and Olivia Munn make their debut in the universe. Other deceased characters, such as Glenn, Abraham, or even Shane, could see their backstories fleshed out in the anthology series as the seasons continue. But, for now, we will have to wait and see as Tales of the Walking Dead airs every Sunday on AMC.

What’s Left for Tales of the Walking Dead?

AMC

Tales of the Walking Dead is sure to bring a few surprises to fans every time a new installment arrives; luckily, AMC has released a few plot details to excite audiences before the final two episodes of season 1. Episode 5, titled Davon, will feature Jessie T. Usher in the titular role alongside Embeth Davidtz, Loan Chabanol, and Gage Munroe. AMC describes the episode as a noir-ish fractured memory thriller, which follows a young stranger who suddenly wakes up in a dangerous foreign town. Unfortunately, he has no memory of how he wound up there and must piece together fragments of his broken mind to uncover why the townspeople accuse him of murder.

The finale of season 1, titled La Doña, stars Danny Ramirez, Daniella Pineda, and Julie Carmen. The episode will depict a haunting tale of an apocalypse-traumatized couple who may or may not be tormented by a haunted house. Eventually, frightening memories coupled with inexplicable phenomena in the house take a toll on the couple’s psyche and their relationship.

Tales of the Walking Dead has all the material necessary to make an engaging and thoughtful side piece to the overall story of The Walking Dead. If AMC uses beloved characters and impactful storytelling, the new anthology series could be the next hit in the shared, undead universe.
