Stranger Things Star Hints At Vecna’s Season 5 Vengence

Early in season 4 of Stranger Things, some fans questioned the revelations about Vecna as the show’s big bad, wondering if the series was leaving nothing for its fifth and final season to reveal. However, it is clear that there is still plenty to be resolved, and with the final season set to be much shorter than its predecessor, things have probably worked out just right. With all the explaining done, the final season can concentrate on delivering an action-packed finale to Netflix’s biggest original series, and star Jamie Campbell Bower has revealed that Vecna will definitely be out for revenge.

Stranger Things returned this summer after a long Covid-extended delay, but there are not many who would say the wait was not worth it. With long-standing secrets being revealed about the upside-down, Elle, Vecna, the Mind Flayer and more, as well as plenty of gore, thrills and horror, season four of the hit show delivered with a bum-numbing super-sized stack of episodes that were watched by millions on its debut.

Among the stars of the show, Bower had the task of bringing Vecna to life, not only in his disfigured humanoid form, for which he underwent hours of make-up and prosthetic applications but also as his previous human form. When it comes to how the villain of the show will take to his temporary defeat by Elle and her friends, Bower told NME that Vecna won’t be taking things lightly when he returns in the next season. He said:

“He’s pissed, he’s properly vexed, I don’t think he’s slunk off licking his wounds in misery. He’s rebuilding, and he’s out for blood. It’s like, you’ve really f*cking pushed the buttons now, that classic Jason Voorhees thing – you’ve made a big mistake.”

Stranger Things Final Season Will Be Tighter and Shorter

Netflix

When the Duffer Brothers announced the imminent arrival of the penultimate season of the show earlier this year, they made some pretty bold claims that season four would be almost double the length of all previous ones. While some found this hard to believe considering the episode numbers were not much different, when the runtimes for the episodes dropped, including the epic two-hours-plus season finale, it seemed that the Duffers had not exaggerated.

However, anyone hoping for another round of the same magnitude for season five should curb their expectations, as the Duffers have made it clear that, at the moment, the final run of Stranger Things will be a more regular length. They also said that fans shouldn’t expect another “Kate Bush” moment in the final season, and with so much on the line, it seems that the last episodes will simply be concentrated on making this a barnstorming ending to the series.

Fans of Stranger Things and the Duffers shouldn’t be too worried, though. Although this is the final season of the series, there are spin-offs already in development, and away from Stranger Things, the Duffers are involved in a Death Note series and the long-in-gestation adaptation of Stephen King’s The Talisman, which has its own Stranger Things vibes about it.
