Giselle and Prince Edward Are Back to Enchant Audiences in First Trailer

During the D23 “Studio Showcase, Day 1: Celebrate the Magic of Disney and Pixar” panel on Friday, September 9th, 2022, the trailer for Disenchantedt, a sequel to the 2007 live-action and animated movie Enchanted, was released. The upcoming sequel will be released for streaming on Disney+ just in time for Thanksgiving, on November 24th, 2022.

The straight to Disney+ movie will see the return of Amy Adams as Giselle, James Marsden as Prince Edward, Patrick Dempsey as Robert Philip, and Idina Menzel as Nancy Tremaine. The cast will also include newcomers Maya Rudolph as Malvina Monroe, Yvette Nicole Brown as Rosaleen, Jayma Mays as Ruby, and Gabriella Baldacchino as Morgan Philip. The sequel is set a decade after the original movie’s “happily ever after,” and sees Giselle questioning her happiness (and affecting everyone around in her life in the process).

To celebrate the upcoming release of the movie, Menzel, Marsden, Rudolph, Brown, and Mays appeared on-stage during the “Studio Showcase” panel, and each got the chance to comment on their respective roles in the upcoming movie.

Menzel updated the audience on what Tremaine and Edward have been up to in Andalasia since the conclusion of Enchanted. “They’re in couples therapy, but it’s working out,” Menzel joked, before she and Marsden agreed that they had been taking dance lessons, slaying trolls, and learning to cook. “We’ve been being happy,” concluded Marsden.

“It was really fun,” Rudolph said during the Disenchanted announcement during the Studio Showcase panel. “I’m a huge fan of the original Enchanted. I can’t believe that I got to be a part of this.” However, Rudolph did say that playing an antagonistic role against main character Giselle came with its own challenges: “It’s not easy being mean to Amy Adams,” she said. “Like, not at all.”

Nevertheless, Rudolph stated that they found a way to make it work, “We had so much fun together, and made this fun meal out of being as nasty to each other as we could be, and it was a dream,” she said. Brown agreed and saif that she had plenty of wicked fun playing her role. “Just imagine grown up mean girls – mean women,” said Brown.

Disenchanted is directed by Adam Shankman and features music by Alan Menken (Little Shop of Horrors, The Little Mermaid). It will be available for streaming on Disney+ this Thanksgiving, on November 25, 2022.
