Ms. Marvel Season 2 Reportedly Greenlit By Marvel Studios

A few months ago, very few people knew anything about Marvel heroine Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel. However, as one of the highest rated MCU series on Disney+, Ms. Marvel star Iman Vellani’s introduction to the Marvel Cinematic Universe could not have been much better, even with a host of review-bombing from internet trolls. Now it looks like there could be a chance that a second season will be following next year’s The Marvels.

While there is nothing confirmed until Marvel Studios confirm it on paper, or a Twitter announcement, a new report from regular inside information provider Daniel Richtman has suggested that despite originally being pitched as a limited series, Ms. Marvel could have already been confirmed for a second season. Of course, the Marvel schedule is pretty much full up for the coming couple of years, but with Ms Marvel’s post-credits scene having a direct lead-in to the upcoming The Marvels any further seasons would always be coming sometime after that.

There is currently very little known about the plot of The Marvels, but there have been plenty of rumors and teases from both stars such as Brie Larson, and details recently revealed at Disney’s D23 Expo. However, where Kamala Khan will be by the end of the movie is not yet known, and that obviously leaves things wide open for her adventures to return to the small screen after next year’s theatrical outing.

Kamala Khan Recently Revealed Her Hopes For A Second Season of Ms. Marvel

While appearing at D23 Expo, Kamala Khan revealed that she really hoped for a second season of Ms. Marvel, but currently she had not been told anything about her future beyond The Marvels. Of course that is pretty much the usual line that is used by anyone connected to the MCU until official announcements are made by Marvel, so they are to be taken with the same grain of salt as Marvel rumors. She told Deadline, “They don’t tell me anything. So you’re not going to head anything [from me]. Hopefully, yeah, we’ve got to start a petition or something.”

Vellani’s comments about not hearing anything from her, now seem to insinuate that there could have been something to be heard and that is potentially the rumors that we are hearing now. While a second season of Ms. Marvel could expand on the character, it seems that there will be a fair amount of that coming in The Marvels. She teased:

“You can see more of the Khan family. I’m really excited for that. More of the stuff we love from Captain Marvel, you know, getting the Flerkens back. And then Kree. Just Brie in general. I think she does such a wonderful job, and giving Carol Danvers a lot more emotional complexities in this movie, and seeing how she interacts with Kamala, who’s much younger, and then Monica [Rambeau, played by Teyonah Parris]. So, it’s a pretty crazy journey for her.”

Iman Vellani’s will return as Ms. Marvel in The Marvels, which arrives in cinemas on July 28, 2023.
