Warrior Nun Showrunner Joins Fans in Fighting to Save the Series After Netflix Cancelation

Netflix recently canceled Warrior Nun after two seasons, but showrunner Simon Barry isn’t letting the show go down without a fight.

Netflix

Netflix pulled the plug on Warrior Nun this week after a two-season run, immensely disappointing the fans of the show hoping to see a third season. Of course, that news was also hard on the cast and crew with showrunner Simon Berry expressing his dismay on social media. But not all hope is lost for seeing new episodes, as fans have been trying to convince Netflix to reverse course by getting the hashtag #SaveWarriorNun trending. Barry has joined in on the fight, telling the show’s fans he’s right there with them as the fight to save Warrior Nun picks up.

“Still in the fight,” Barry posted on Twitter, including a GIF of a resilient Captain America.

In a previous tweet, Barry noted, “We have the best fans. Thank you for standing up and fighting for Warrior Nun – #SaveWarriorNun In this life or the next!”

When the cancelation was first announced, Barry wasn’t yet thinking about saving the series, first coming to terms with the unfortunate news. WIth his initial post in reaction to the announcement, Barry thanked the fans along with those whom he worked with on the show, calling it a “privilege” to have been a part of the two-season journey of Warrior Nun.

I’ve just found out that Netflix will not be renewing Warrior Nun – my sincere appreciation to all the fans who worked so hard to bring awareness to this series, and for the love you showed me, the cast and the whole production team. It was a privilege to be a part of this,” he said.

Warrior Nun Has Been Axed, But Can It Be Saved?

Netflix

Netflix has often created controversy by canceling popular shows, but sometimes, fan campaigns for these shows to continue can successfully give them a new life. Even Netflix has picked up shows that were previously canceled elsewhere due to these kinds of fan campaigns, such as Manifest and Lucifer. If the campaign to save Warrior Nun gets enough attention, it could possibly convince Netflix to renew the series after all, or perhaps it may have another possible home elsewhere. That’s what happened to Tuca & Bertie, which was given another two seasons on Adult Swim after getting axed at Netflix.

For now, Warrior Nun remains a two-season series. You can watch the series on Netflix.
