Justin Verlander has beaten every team in Major League Baseball.
The New York Mets right-hander pitched seven innings of two-hit ball during a 2-1 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday to become the 21st pitcher in MLB history to accomplish the feat.
The three-time Cy Young winner retired 18 of the last 19 hitters he faced while striking out seven and walking two.
Verlander is the first pitcher to beat all 30 teams since Gerrit Cole did it in July 2021. His teammate, Max Scherzer, has also beaten all 30 clubs, defeating his final team in May 2016.
The 40-year-old Verlander was making his second start of the season for the Mets after signing a two-year, $86.7-million contract in December. He began the season on the injured list with an arm strain.
