Original Twilight and Nurse Jackie Star Peter Facinelli Hopes Reprise His Roles in Upcoming Reboots

Peter Facinelli, famous for his role as Dr. Carlisle Cullen in the popular Twilight Saga movies, opens up during the Cameron Boyce Foundation Gala. He stated that he would love to be a part of the upcoming Twilight TV series. He also feels the same way for the Nurse Jackie reboot, where he also played as a doctor.

Even after a decade has past, Facinelli is still fond of his experience shooting the Twilight Saga films. He emphasized during the interview with Variety that he enjoyed his time working on both productions, that he would return in a heartbeat if requested to take part on Twilight TV series or the Nurse Jackie reboot.

“I’m a fan first and foremost. But if they call me I’ll be there. If not, I’ll be watching for sure. I’m happy to see them coming back. I have a lot of love for both and a lot of love for the cast, filmmakers and producers. It’s like a family. ‘Twilight,’ for me, was six years and ‘Nurse Jackie’ was seven, so when you finish those characters, it’s really it’s hard to put them away and move on. But then potentially to have an opportunity to maybe play them again is really cool. If not, I’m happy to tune in and watch. I’ve had my cup runneth over.”

Any Nurse Jackie fan will not forget Peter Facinelli’s role as Dr. Fitch “Coop” Cooper. Facinelli remained in the series for 6 seasons until he decided to call it quits. He remained for almost half of the seventh season before he’s got written off.

In contrast to his enthusiasm about rejoining the show’s reboot during the recent interview, back then Facinelli told E! News

“You know I’ve done it for six years. They’ve become like a family to me, Edie [Falco], Merritt [Weaver]. They are all such a great team of actors to work with. And I love the character, he is so much fun. But after six years I felt like, well, I’m contracted through seven, I kind of wanted to see what else is out there. And try a new character on for size and try something new.”

Before discussing his professional aspirations, Facinelli took a moment to honor the late actor Cameron Boyce and his impact. He praised the work of the Cameron Boyce Foundation in promoting epilepsy awareness and ensuring Boyce’s memory lives on. The foundation, established following Boyce’s passing due to an epileptic seizure in 2019, is committed to funding epilepsy research, education, and awareness campaigns.

At the time of Boyce’s passing, he was only 20 years old. Boyce was able to gather more than 40 acting credits during the span of his career as an actor. Some of them includes, Grown Up, Descendants, Mrs. Fletcher, Jessie and many more.

The gala also saw “Black-ish” star Yara Shahidi receiving the Youth Empowerment Award. Shahidi expressed gratitude for the recognition, and in remembering her friend Boyce, she emphasized the importance of collective action to create a better world, a sentiment clearly inspired by Boyce’s life and legacy.
