New Photos, Premiere Date for The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Revealed

Daryl Dixon isn’t in the Commonwealth anymore, and he is a very long way from the safety of those walls. Yes, Norman Reedus’ return as The Walking Dead fan-favorite character in The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon is almost here. The standalone spin-off will premiere on Sunday, September 10, and a total of eight photographs (below) featuring Reedus and several of his fellow cast members have hit the internet. Additionally, the new pics from the set of the post-apocalyptic series reveal the crossbow-wielding hero adjusting to his new digs in Paris.

The photos dropped almost two months ahead of the September 10 premiere of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, which can be seen on both AMC and AMC+. Eager enthusiasts of the TWD universe can now catch glimpses of not only Reedus, but his co-stars Romain Levi, Laika Blanc Francard and Clémence Poésy also appear in the new pictures. But, if fans are expecting The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon to be a copycat of the original AMC show set in France, they’re in for a surprise. Executive producer and director, Greg Nicotero, insists that the new series isn’t only about Daryl living in Paris, as he struggles to make his way home.

Nicotero said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly:

“The goal isn’t just to see Daryl in exotic and new locations, but to explore a wholly different world. This is definitely not more of the same. Our show introduces new characters, new themes, and is an exciting extension of the genre that will delight people who love this kind of storytelling and crave more.”

The New Photos Don’t Include Major Spoilers

The brand-new photographs of Norman Reedus from the set of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon do a good job of not giving away any major spoilers from the upcoming TWD spin-off. And the footage leading up to the September premiere hasn’t sullied any surprises Nicotero and his creative team might have planned. The first teaser only showed Daryl adrift in what appears to be the Atlantic Ocean’s inhospitable waters, which surge between the United States and Europe, as he lies silent and shattered on the top of a capsized boat.

And the latest clip, released only four days ago, finds Daryl (Reedus) regaining consciousness in a mysterious abbey. In the new photos, fans get a good look at actor Laika Blanc Francard dressed as one of the abbey’s nuns who are with Daryl before those aiding him either cauterize one of his wounds or brand him. For now, those wanting more information about The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon will have to look beyond the photos and footage to learn about the show. Check out the brief synopsis for TWD spin-off now, courtesy of ComicBook.com:

Daryl (Reedus) washes ashore in France and struggles to piece together how he got there and why. The series tracks his journey across a broken but resilient France as he hopes to find a way back home. As he makes the journey, though, the connections he forms along the way complicate his ultimate plan.
