After amazing the world with his transformation into the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll in Elvis, Austin Butler is ready to take his darkest side to the surface by becoming one of the main villains in Dune: Part Two.

It’s been almost two years since Denis Villeneuve took the story created by Frank Herbert to the screen once again, presenting a very different but equally successful adaptation to the one David Lynch did back in the 80s. But Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary conceived this new version as a franchise, so the 2021 was just the beginning of something much bigger.

The next film will continue to tell the adventures of Timothée Chalamet’s Paul Atreides, while also giving Zendaya’s Chani a more important role after having just a brief participation in the first part. But the sequel will also bring some other big names to the franchise, and Austin Butler is one of them.

Butler will be playing Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen, nephew of Baron Vladimir Harkonnen, Stellan Skarsgård’s character. He’s a fierce fighter with sword but also a determined and dangerous killer who will be tasked with stopping the main hero. So he’ll be a real threat for Paul and everyone around him.

Austin Butler Is a Great Person but Also a Fearsome Villain

Legendary Pictures

In a recent interview with Purdue University’s This Is Purdue podcast, actor Stephen McKinley, who plays Thufir Hawat in the films, praised the performance of Austin Butler while also recalling the actor’s king attitude towards him:

“[Austin] played a character that was not very happy with me at all, and he was quite chilling, and I was giving him back the looks, but when they say, ‘Cut,’ he would come over and say, ‘Mr. Henderson, are you okay? Can I help you? Can I get you anything?’ And he was just so nice. And then we’d go back to roll and he went, ‘Ugh.’ He was on my case. So I just so appreciated Austin, a wonderful, wonderful person.”

Dune: Part 2 has also added some other interesting names to the franchise with Florence Pugh, Christopher Walken, Léa Seydoux, Souheila Yacoub and Tim Blake Nelson joining the cast. In the sequel, after almost losing everything he loves and discovering the huge conspiracy he’s involved in, Paul will join Chani and the Fremen looking for revenge after what happened to his family.

The world of Dune will soon come to the small screen too with Dune: The Sisterhood, a spinoff series that will present a prequel story set 10000 years before the events of the movies. The story is based on The Sisterhood of Dune, a novel by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson, published in 2012 that centers on a group of women known as Bene Gesserit.
