The first season of the show focused on Tom Hiddleston’s God of Mischief arrived on the platform in 2021, within the first batch of MCU‘s original series for streaming. And it was the only one on that list that managed to be renewed for a second season. Now the show has proven why it was worthy of a second time around.

The second season was just as well received as the first one, causing fans to debate vigorously on social media after each episode, and especially following the revelations of the finale and its implications on the future of the franchise. . And it seems that its impact was much more significant than imagined.

According to Deadline, the last episode of the show’s second season reached 11.2 million views in three days, surpassed only by the end of the third installment of The Mandalorian. Additionally, the first episode of the most recent season of the adventures of the God of Mischief was also the second most watched on the platform in that same period of time, also falling behind the premiere episode of the third installment of the Star Wars spinoff.

Another great achievement is that throughout the entire second season, Loki was able to maintain a viewership number above 11 million views during the first days of release, a stability that Marvel Studios must undoubtedly celebrate during this complicated times.

Is Tom Hiddleston Done with the MCU?

Marvel Studios

The end of Loki’s season two not only introduced very important elements for the future of the MCU, it also marked the end of a journey for the popular character…at least for now. Tom Hiddleston has been part of the franchise almost from the beginning, and his character has participated in many of the great plots of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with the Loki series being responsible for presenting the concept of the multiverse, perhaps the most important thing right now for the franchise.

But although the series helped bring closure to the character’s narrative arc, is it the end for Hiddleston’s run within the MCU? Speaking with ComicBook, the actor reflected on his future:

“It’s so hard because I’ll be completely honest with you, Brandon, I have at least twice in my life said goodbye. I’ve written to Kevin Feige and Louis de Esposito and Victoria Alonso and been like, ‘Thank you so much. It’s been like the role of a lifetime,’ and they’ve written notes back saying, ‘Come and see us anytime. You’re always part of the family. We’re always here. You’ve given us so much and tears have been shared.’ So I think I’d be unwise at this point to be conclusive about any of it.”
