Doctor Strange 2’s Xochitl Gomez Celebrates Dancing With The Stars 2023 Victory

Summary

  • Xochitl Gomez and her partner Val Chmerkovskiy won Dancing with the Stars Season 32, scoring a perfect 120 marks for their semifinal and final dances.
  • Gomez expressed her elation and joked about returning to the ballroom next week for fun because she doesn’t want the show to end.
  • Following her Dancing with the Stars victory, fans wonder if Gomez will return to her role as America Chavez in the MCU, particularly in the upcoming Young Avengers project and Avengers: Secret Wars.

Last year Xochitl Gomez battled Wanda Maximoff in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, but this year she had a different fight on her hands to be crowned Dancing with the Stars Season 32 winner on Tuesday night. Together with dancing partner Val Chmerkovskiy, the rising star beat off singer Jason Mraz and his partner Daniella Karagach to take the Mirrorball Trophy after being the only pair to score a perfect 120 marks across their semifinal and final dances.

As per Deadline, Gomez was so elated with her win that she does not want it to end, joking that she may just return to the ballroom next week for the fun of it. She said:

I don’t want this show to end, and I think it’s gonna be really good for me to keep coming back.

Partner Chmerkovskiy added:

We’ll be back here next week, just streaming on our socials.

Gomez’s final performances saw her dance foxtrot and freestyle routines. Ahead of the final, judge Bruno Tonioli reassigned the pair the foxtrot as their redemption round dance, and delivered a few hints as to how Gomez could perfect it, and as you can see in the videos below, she certainly took the notes onboard to deliver the first of two perfect dances.

When being reminded of their perfect scores, Gomez admitted that she had been unaware that they had achieved the feat until afterward.

“Gosh, I didn’t think that [we did that]. I forgot until there had been like a little thing that said, this is your score something out of something, and it was the score. I was like, ‘What? We did that?’ Yeah, we did that. I’m proud of that.”

The actress went on to explain how the improvements made to her foxtrot had been all down to Tonioli’s encouragement and advice, and that in the end everything just came together on the night. However, now the contest is over, there is something of a comedown for Gomez to cope with. She added:

“The whole night was special. I keep saying it feels bittersweet because, for us, every week that we had a great performance felt like exactly like this feeling. Truly, every time we got called safe, we felt like we were winning. So tonight, it felt like that times 100.”

Xochitl Gomez’s America Chavez Could Be Part of The Young Avengers

Marvel Comics

Now that her Dancing with the Stars adventure is over, there will be many fans questioning whether she will be returning to her MCU role of America Chavez, the multiverse-jumping character who made her debut in last year’s Doctor Strange sequel.

Her character was last seen being taken under the wing of Wong at Kamar-Taj, learning to hone the skills that were previously running wild. As one of the powerful young characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it now seems that she will certainly have a role to play in both the upcoming Young Avengers project and Avengers: Secret Wars. What that role will be is something that is yet to be seen, but with the Young Avengers being teased in The Marvels’ post-credits scene, news on the project should be coming in the not too distant future.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is taking a break of sorts in 2024, with only three series confirmed to hit Disney+ and Deadpool 3 the sole cinematic release. Whether this delays any Young Avengers announcements is unclear, but it does seem that Marvel Studios are set for a bit of a reconfiguration in the coming years, and projects like Young Avengers will be part of that.
