Arnold Schwarzenegger Teases Working with Danny DeVito Again with Twins Reunion Image

Summary

  • Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito reunite for a buddy photo, hinting at the possibility of working together again soon.
  • Although the Twins sequel was previously unsure, this appearance suggests movement forward with the project.
  • Schwarzenegger’s recent TV series opens the possibility of DeVito making an appearance, creating further anticipation for fans.

Although it doesn’t seem like Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito will be reprising their roles as twin brothers Julius and Vincent in the sequel to their hit 1988 comedy Twins, that hasn’t stopped the duo getting together for another buddy photo.

While the pair previously gave fans a surprise Twins reunion in a pre-recorded introduction video at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner back in April, another opportunity arose when Schwarzenegger dropped in on DeVito’ Broadway play, I Need That, and they couldn’t let it pass without sharing the moment on Instagram.

Schwarzenegger wrote a heartfelt message in his post, which gave just a small hint that the pair could be cooking something together soon. He wrote:

“My brother! It was fantastic to see Danny on Broadway in I Need That. He and Lucy and everybody involved kept the audience entertained, laughing and loving every minute — one of the best plays I’ve ever seen, a true spectacle with heart!! I can’t wait to work together again.”

Although he previously suggested that the planned Twins sequel was not moving ahead following the death of director Ivan Reitman, it certainly seems like the pair are planning on getting together to do something in the not too distant future.

Will Twins Sequel ‘Triplets’ Ever Be Made?

Universal Pictures

Back in early 2022, it seemed that Triplets, the sequel to 1998’s Twins, was all set to head into production with Schwarzenegger and DeVito being joined by Tracy Morgan as a third sibling, and original director Ivan Reitman on board to helm the movie. However, the death of Reitman seemed to put a cloud of uncertainty over the project, as Schwarzenegger suggested that continuing without him may be something that wouldn’t happen. He wrote at the time:

“We had a little setback because the man that was supposed to direct it, who directed the first one, Ivan Reitman, had passed away. We’re going to wait a little bit until this whole thing cools down, and then we’re going to readdress it. But that’s a project that’s supposed to film in October, but we just have to now look into a different director, and see if we are going to continue with this project.”

There have been no further updates on the movie, but this latest appearance by the pair could suggest that something is moving forward a little with Triplets. However, for now, fans will just be glad to see the pair having another moment together no matter how fleeting it was.

Recently, Schwarzenegger made his first foray into the world of television, appearing in the hit Netflix series FUBAR, which has been greenlit for a second season. Whether DeVito is planning to drop in on the show is something that we can only wait to find out.
