In a year filled with horror sequels and prequels, there’s little doubt that Smile 2 was a cut above the rest. It took everything we loved about the first movie, and improved on it to deliver an even better film that went on to earn more than $137 million at the box office. Hitting theaters on October 18, it made its way to VOD a month later, and we now know when the Parker Finn movie hits streaming.
Per Variety, Smile 2 will debut on Paramount+ tomorrow, December 3. Starring Naomi Scott, the film follows her pop star character of Skye Riley as she begins to experience a series of increasingly disturbing events just as she is about to embark on tour. Also featuring Rosemarie DeWitt, Lukas Gage, Ray Nicholson and Kyle Gallner, Smile 2 is Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes with an 86% rating from critics, and its audience score isn’t too far behind at 81%.

Now is the perfect time to sign up for Paramount+ to check out Smile 2, as the streamer currently has one heck of a Cyber Monday deal going on which will save you a ton of money. You can get either their Paramount+ Essential plan, or Paramount+ with Showtime for just $2.99/month for the first two months. After that, each plan reverts to its original pricing of $7.99/month and $12.99/month, respectively.
Will There Be a ‘Smile 3?’
With 2022’s Smile bringing in more than $217 million in box office receipts, and this year’s sequel not too far behind it, it appears as if Finn is just getting started with the franchise. The films are made for very little money, which means they’re quick to turn a profit, and Paramount Pictures would be silly to abandon them now. As such, Finn has already stated that there are plans being developed for a third entry in the series, but is remaining mum on any plot details.
Speaking with Collider back in October, he told the outlet that Smile 3 could go in any number of directions, but admitted that he wants to stick to character-driven stories. What that means for the future is anyone’s guess, but the director said he has a lot of tricks up his sleeves.
“I think there are a lot of interesting roads that any future Smile could go down. For me, I love all the stuff that goes bump in the night, and all the really frightening things of the big concept of Smile and the Smiler.
“But really, for me, Smile is a vehicle to tell really intense and hopefully thoughtful character stories , and so I’d wanna make sure, regardless of if more than one person might have it, that we still find a way to really invest intimacy into the storytelling . That’s super important to me. But I think there are some really interesting tricks still up the sleeves of Smile.”
As we await word on what’s to come, be sure to check out Smile 2 when it hits Paramount+ on Dec. 3, and if you need a primer beforehand, 2022’s Smile is also featured on the streaming service, as well as Hulu.
